Butterflies and Flowers

One of my goals this years has been to delight in the little things and to find contentment in moments in my day. One of the ways to do that has been to sit outside with my coffee in the morning and to plant some zinnias and sunflowers near the house and the patio. These have brought the butterflies even if a little later in the season than usual. Last week,  I took a few moments to take some snapshots.

When I plant something, it has to be resilient and need little care. Zinnias are easy to plant, come up fairly quickly and come in a variety of colors. My mother in law has taken to water them when it doesn’t rain.

The sunflowers didn’t do as well this year but a few came up. I think we forgot to water them at the beginning. I love how cheery they are and how it was the swallowtail butterfly kept coming back to this one.

It’s not always easy to take pictures of butterflies with a phone, if you get to close, they will fly away. This one was a lot more cooperative than the others flitting around.

It was really neat to see the detail of its legs and antennas.

This last little feller here though was so quick. I had the hardest time taking a picture of him as he sure was enjoying every single flower in our little garden.

Hope you enjoyed these little beauties!

A bientôt!
