Thrifted Floral Kimono: Completer Piece for Fall

In the summer, I typically do not wear a third piece to complete my outfit as the heat and humidity make it uncomfortable. I will seldom wear a scarf or a kimono even if I am wearing a tank underneath. So while I actually did wear this outfit on an overcast day near the end of August as an exception I will definitely be wearing different versions of it throughout the fall. Fall is a time for me to wear a tee and a scarf on warmer days and add a light layer on cooler ones. You can recreate this outfit with your own tops and kimonos and leggings of different lengths (I have a white and a black capri pair) as they are not as warm as jeans and a little different.

I thrifted this kimono at a Revive consigment store in August as I had a few minutes before my dentist appointment. I do not stop there very often as it is only on the way to appointments that are once or twice a year. I picked this pretty piece up (the ruffled sleeve caught my eye) and another striped jumpsuit.

I played with the greys and added grey Blowfish sandals and a grey swing tank. As I put this outfit together, I realized I should add a couple more long tunic tanks to my closet as they are great for wearing with leggings either on their own or as a base layer.

We took our pictures in a new location, on our way home from the high school. We’ve been meaning to take pictures here for a while. There are really a lot of spots that are great backdrops downtown (I love all of the brick) but we always feel a little self conscious trying to take pictures there as people are heading home from school or work.  I really love this though so I am sure we will take more pictures here over the next months.

The oversized ruffles on this kimono are really fun. I actually wore a bright fuschia bag too but forgot to take it out of the car. The earrings were another fun pop of color. Remember that your accessories do not always have to match something in your outfit. A bright contrasting pop of color is fun and pretty. There is no purple in the kimono and I really like the play with color.

Even though summer will linger here in the south, temperature start cooling down in the mornings and evenings and it is fun to see the boys enjoy playing outside again. I enjoy my coffee with less bug bites and love the air getting crisper. I do love the change in season so my wardrobe feels new again and I get inspired to create new outfits.

This month is an exciting month with birthdays, anniversary, a wedding and a trip! Add boys sports to it and school and it’s been fun but really busy! Glad to have some downtime when boys are in school to help balance it all out.

A bientôt!
