Back to School Style with the Ageless Style Link Up
What is back to school style? I guess with the end of summer approaching and the temperatures not as hot, I start reaching for the same items as other summers past! Today’s back to school outfit starts with 2 pieces I wore last year in the back to school ageless style post here! These wide leg jeans from Loft are fun as they allow air flow and create a different silhouette. The large tote, I enjoy using this time of the year as children start sports and I can carry a water bottle, a book and a notebook in addition to what I would usually have in my purse.
I thankfully have adapted to the 6:30 am bus time and do not have to bring my two youngest to school. The middle school/high school bus is not known for its well behaved children so I prefer my 11 year old not to ride it. I drop him and a neighbor off as well as my high schooler.
Hopefully before the end of the school year, my oldest will have a car and a part time job and can maybe take over the morning drop off.
Now to my outfit: as I mentioned, the jeans are last year’s and the fun sneakers a find on spring break vacation. The lug sole and kakhi color are fun and very versatile. I picked up this cute little top at TJmaxx a couple months ago on the clearance rack. Nothing like planning a couple small vacations to me me want to pick up a few things. At $10 and with such a pretty print, I knew this halter top was coming home with me as soon I had put it on.
I am really hoping to establish a great routine for myself while the boys are all at school. I would love this routine to daily include:
- spiritual reading and prayer
- exercise (weights the days I am not running)
- blog work
- a weekly get together with a friend
- improve my house cleaning routine
- weekly snack making (once or twice)
- some relaxing time
Haircut and color came after these pictures. We are celebrating 20 years this year with a trip sans children and my brother is also having his wedding in Jacksonville in September. A pedicure will be in order! I am excited for both occasions. Adult time is something I miss as a mom!
Depending on when I plan to work with my weights, I will be either wearing workout clothes or a cute outfit such as this one on my morning school drops. Even if I spend most of the day on my own, I really enjoy creating cute outfits from my closet. Makes me feel more productive!
Don’t forget to see how the other ladies from the Ageless Style group are styling for their back to school looks!

Mireille, this outfit is adorable on you and perfect for the back to school season! That top is beautiful and the color is magnificen on you. I need a large tote bag as well for packing in all the things to attend extracurricular events. I love your daily routine goals while you are kid free. I have similar goals this year as well. So far, I have been sticking to my schedule of blogging for a few hours in the morning and doing at least an hour of yoga before the kids get home but I need to get more cleaning and cooking time as well as meditation and reading time. I am working out the scheduling and motivation glitches still! I hope you all have a wonderful school year, my friend!

You, too Shelbee! I still am not doing awesome with cleaning after a month in school but get the essentials done. I have been surprised to be busier than I expected.

Love the top and you look fabulous in it.

Thank you! It is really comfortable and perfect on hot days.

We just got an email from the school this week that the student parking lot is full and they started a wait list that Juniors can add their name to– seniors were given 1st priority for the first 2 weeks of school and apparently every senior that has a liscence also has a car. I was so hoping to have Alec drive himself this year and not have to make the long trek out each day (we live about 30 minutes away). It was literally the main reason I pushed him to get his liscence at 16 but I’ve resigned myself to another year of chauffer and I do enjoy our long chats on the way home from school. Your outfit is adorable! I love that top. But for drop off today I had long jeans, a long sleeve shirt, and a cardigan. It’s already pretty cool here in the morning but I’m still wearing my summer flip flops!

Thanks, Joanne! Wish it would stay cool here but up in the 90s next week. At least the mornings are nice and brisk. We will be on the lookout for an unexpensive car for him soon. Next week he will hopefully get his license.

The wide leg jeans look so great on you! Jeans 100% say “back to school” for me, even when paired with a very summery top. As for the 6:30 bus time – yowzers!

Thanks, Sally! I wish these were a size smaller but if I put a longer top it is not so bad.

I love this outfit Mireille. Getting up that early is not something I miss…let me just say, haha!!

It’s nice when the kids can take over some jobs for us. Been a while for me and now they all work, drive and have families of their own I get to spend time doing the things I like and still enjoy their company. Jacqui x

Yes, I definitely am enjoying this time at home alone during the day!

I love that bag! I’ve been looking for a large, nude or taupe tote and I’m having a hard time finding one.

This is several years old now, and since I don’t use it that often, still in great shape.

that top is so cute and a bargain at $10! i really like the print with the denim 🙂 I’m not looking forward to when my two boys are in different schools and I have to drop off at multiple places each morning, eek! We will see how it goes, I have a while till then, high school doesn’t start till grade 7 here.
Hope you are having a lovely day 🙂

It hasn’t been so bad this year with 2 on the bus.

I love those sneakers that you purchased and I think I already mentioned how much I love a good tote bag to carry all the things around! I know it’s a love hate relationship with big purses as they can quickly fill up with all sorts of non-essential things. Anyway, this is super cute and functional for a busy mom life. I am loving the return of routine even though I have significantly less time for everything now that I am back to work full-time.

I usually don’t last more than a couple weeks with a big tote and that is exactly what I did with this one. Two weeks then back to another purse but I do like to have it on hand!
Rena
Fabulous look, Mireille. I especially like the lug-sole sneakers. I recently bought myself a similar pair and your outfit is a great inspiration for me to try.

Those sneakers are really fun and I should wear them more often but gotta rotate all my shoes =)

You look fabulous in this blue, Mireille! It sounds like you have a really fun fall lined up already! When my daughter got her license, she could take her little brother to high school so I didn’t have to do it. But, then a new law went into effect in January. She couldn’t take him anymore even though she’d been doing it since August or September! I had to drop him off for about a month until some arbitrary number of days had passed since she got her license!!!

There is a similar law here and he will need 6 months to be able to drive someone I think but it might be different if it is family.

I love this outfit, Mireille! The print in the top is so pretty. It’s got to be nice having a bit more time to yourself so you can prioritize some of your own interests. And congrats to your brother on his upcoming nuptials!

It’s a beautiful back to school outfit. I love everything about it especially the top. It’s a stunner! Your lug sole shoes are also very eye catching. They are different from anything I own and would love a pair! For me, I would love to improve my cleaning routine as well. I get into phases and some days are a write off. The problem with that is there is only three of us so how hard can it be? Perhaps I am just lazy? Mmm. Anyway, I love back to school. Not the sending my son back because I do enjoy all of our time together even when we don’t see eye to eye but the opportunity to wear all my clothes. We don’t usually go out so to me, nothing like looking cute at drop off and pick up! 🙂

Lol! I am definitely lazy as far as cleaning goes. Like right now I really need to dust.. but maybe I will pay my boys to do it!
