Atlanta Botanical Gardens: Orchid House

This past Sunday, my family and I visited the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I took so many pictures I decided to dedicate several blog posts to our visits. Today, I am focusing on the orchid house since they were one of my favorites and many were in bloom. I shared another visit earlier this year when the origami exhibit was about to start. Here is that post of you want to admire the large and small beautiful sculptures, another post explores some of my favorite spots while this post focuses on some of the plants. The different seasons display different flowers and beauty as well as exhibits so I did purchase a family membership and will plan another visit when the weather cools off.

I am always in awe with orchids: they seem so delicate, there are so many varieties so different in shapes and colors. As a person who has fun getting dress, I often look at the colors and patterns and think: wouldn’t this look good as a blouse?

The orchid house at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens is a feast for the eyes. I really want to go back with a friend and spend the majority of my visit just admiring the orchids. When visiting with my family, I felt the need to see it all and didn’t really soak up the beauty.

I do not have a green thumb so any orchid coming through our house doesn’t seem to thrive. We do have two small planter that still look alive in our kitchen, I wonder if they will bloom again.

Orchids are found in rainforest in the wild. They need a combination of light and shade and protection from winds.

The orchid house is definitely one of the highlights of the gardens. It is also a nice space to visit when it is hot outside.

If you are visiting the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in the fall, make sure to visit the orchid house!

A bientôt!
