Statement Skirt for Sunday Church
Today, I am sharing what I wore for Mother’s Day and this might be one of my top 5 favorite outfits this year. This skirt is magnificent! It is a Rachel Zoe skirt that I picked up at TJmaxx a month ago as I tried several maxi skirts. While this skirt is voluminous, the beautiful print just called my name, and I could not pass it up. I knew it would be perfect for a tropical vacation of course, but what about a Sunday for church or date night?
This outfit combination came to mind right away. I do have different colored tops that would match a color in the skirt, but I thought a crisp white body suit would balance the volume of the skirt. I added a thrifted belt to define my waist and a pair of cognac sandals.
Jodie (JtouchofStyle) always reminds her readers to wear the clothes! Don’t keep certain clothes for only special occasions. Wear them because they make you feel pretty, confident or happy. This skirt checks all of the boxes for me: it is colorful, is is a great maxi length, and the print reminds me of my 20th anniversary trip to Costa Rica and all the beautiful vegetation there.
I am trying to add in my straw totes in my purse rotation, so I wore this one for a couple of weeks. It is an old Amazon find but this one looks exactly the same. I am not sure that I paid that much for it, but I have had it for a few years. I do wish it had a long strap too to hold on my shoulder.
We had a great time with family over Mother’s Day weekend and it was nice to see everyone from my parents and one of my brothers on Saturday, to the in-laws the next day. One of my nieces just finished her first year at college and another is about to start so we got to learn all about their experiences.
I prepped everything before going to church, so that all my work was done. Leaving right after church allowed me to put the chicken on the grill (we’ve had a Traeger smoker for several years now and it is so easy to use) and then relax till everyone got there about an hour later.
We had enough time to take these pictures nearby before our get together. My oldest hasn’t had time to have a job, so his source of income is taking blog pictures for me and doing some paid chores. The boys used to get allowance, but they now receive money for certain chores. They have all been busier than usual the past couple of months and their money resources are depleted.
I took this last picture for a collaboration with ShopLC and the necklace will be a fun one to have for special occasions. It is very inexpensive but the “bling” really shines! Use MIREILLE15 for an additional 15% off.
I hope everyone has a wonderful month of June! We are looking forward to our vacation and some pool time and downtime around the house.

Gosh, I’m so glad you took my words to heart because it would be a shame to keep this magnificent skirt in the closet. It’s such a gorgeous item and I bet it’s cool in the summer.
Would it work as a dress too?? That could make it fun?? Maybe over one shoulder too?? I’d love to see you play with it.

I try to remember those words: I have some pretty things that should just be enjoyed! It would work as a dress for sure since it is a elastic waistband.

Thanks, Sally, the skirt doesn’t need anything to compete with it. Jodie suggested wearing it as a dress and I am going to try that soon.

That maxi skirt is so beautiful on you, i like the straw accessories with it! 🙂 I think you’re right, we should wear all the pretty clothes more often, and not just save them for special occasions.

I really do love it! Jodie suggested wearing it as a dress and I think I might try that one Sunday soon with a little jacket.
