Shorts for Days: July 12-17
What a fun thrifting outing I had last week with my friend Rachel from The Faux French Girl! I had a little list for what I would like to find and can you believe that I found what I was looking for? My goal was to find some printed shorts as I didn’t have any and yes, even though I have said that I am not wearing shorts much this summer, I still enjoy wearing them when I won’t be in and out of the car. Today I am sharing the 4 pairs of shorts I have and a bonus shorts outfit I wore this week too.
Colorful Stripes
I found 3 of the pair of shorts at Uptown Cheapskate: they had a large selection and a lot of them were on sale too. The print on these caught my eye and at first I thought they would be too large along the waist. They are a little loose but not unccomfortably so. I tried them on twice to make sure I wouldn’t mind the lower waist and they passed the test. Casual look with a tee!
Black and White Stripes
This pair was missing 2 buttons (the buttons were gold), so I asked for a discount and I was given 30% off. Again, I ignored the size (they are size L) and tried them on. They fit well and have about the same looseness as the pair above. The fabric is soft and sturdy and I spent $2 on button and switch them out. While I can sew a button I do not like to, lol!
Colorful Florals
When I saw these shorts, I knew right away I had a number of tops that would work with it from green to yellow to orange. I do not have many colorful sandals (I am trying to remedy that), but I have had these yellow ones from Target for a number of years: I even glued part of them because I don’t have any to replace them. They are a great contrast color with denim or navy so I wear them pretty regularly.
Shorts and Lace
It’s a little hard to see the shorts with my longer lace top (whose purple actually matches one of the purples in the leaves on the shorts), so I will have to take some pictures next week at the lake. The material is one that will be perfect around water and with a simple tank or tee!
White Shorts
This last pair I have had in my closet for a year and is from Target. I replaced my shorts last year as they didn’t fit right anymore apart from my denim pair. White is always fun with brights so they was an easy match!
Bonus Church Outfits
I decided to share my church outfits as I wore the sandals I thrifted on the same thrifting outing! I was looking for a pair of red sandals as I hadn’t had a pair in a few years and I used to wear them all of the time, and I came across this comfortable pair of Jelly Pop sandals. I wore my cap sleeve Halftee under both dresses for modesty and comfort (shop MIREILLE20 for 20%).
I bought this dress knowing I would have to wear a Halftee with it since the neckline is too low, and I loved the color! A fun unexpected combo with red!
The bodice on this dress is tight on me, but I couldn’t pass up the pretty colorful print when I was thrifting (same outing!), so I bought it anyways. Halftees to the rescue!
I hope you enjoyed another week of outfits!

What a grand haul!! I would gladly take all of those shorts off your hands!! They are great finds and look terrific on you. And that dress with the red and purple is really special. Hadn’t thought of wearing my half-tee as a kind of camisole with low neck things. Will have to try it.

I couldn’t believe I found that many pairs that fit! I am so excited to have them and have been wearing them some more. Yes to the Halftee as a camisole: I like them with my wrap dresses that are cut lower. In this case, I could leave a couple buttons unbuttoned and have it peek out.

You scored some wonderful items, Mireille! I think you have great legs so I’m glad you’re showing them more! There isn’t an Uptown Cheapskate near me, but I almost wish there was one. I honestly don’t need another store to shop in, though!

And I have trouble finding one decent pair! Love the black and white striped one!

I was really surprised I found that many!

I will say not all of them are created equal, but there are about 3 Uptown Cheapskate within a 20 mile radius of me, so sometimes I plan an outing to some of the ones further from me.

First off that print dress is stunning. And with the print, you don’t even notice that the bodice is tighter than your usual. It’s incredible.
I love that you ignored the sizes on those shorts. In our hot weather, it’s advantageous to have looser shorts anyways. I just bought a pair at Uptown Cheapskate for $1 and they were a size 8 (bigger than my normal), but I love how they hang loose.
Bravo to your fabulous shopping,

That dress was a little bit of an impulse buy, but I couldn’t pass up the cute fit!

Sounds like a fantastic thrifting adventure! Finding exactly what you were looking for is always such a thrill. It’s great that you found those printed shorts and managed to score a good deal at Uptown Cheapskate. The casual look with a tee looks perfect for summer. If you’re interested, I just posted a new blog about styling jeans and a tank top for date night. Would love for you to check it out!
