Tropical Pants 5 Ways
When I looked at my TJmaxx receipt, these pants were described as swimwear. I beg to differ as the material would not be great wet over a bathing suit! So I consider these true pants and while they are a little on the thin side, I do not think they are see through. The color grabbed my eye when I went in to buy some hand soap and body wash, and I just had to try them especially that I was taking a second look my flowy pants at the time. I really try to have in mind several outfits with something new I buy, especially if I am not thrifting and the outfits below were just a few that I came up with in about 5 minutes time looking at my tops!
Black Bodysuit and Bow in Front
This is the way the pants bow is intended to be: tied in front. Most times, I will pair something fitted with flowy, wide leg bottoms. These pants are very similar in shape to my red pants and bodysuits are just an easy choice to create a flattering silhouette. I kept the same accessories (earrings, bracelets and shoes) in all of these outfits to make changing easier.
White Bodysuit and Bow in the Back
A print like this just asks for a cute little summer purse: I haven’t worn my small straw purses much this summer but I think they are perfect for a fun tropical print like this.
It’s kind of difficult to see the bow in the back, but I thought it looked cute with a top tucked in. It also creates a flatter front view.
Flowy paired with Flowy
I wore a very similar outfit to this in 2021 in this post, wearing a pair of pants very similar to these. For some reason, I really like how the asymetrical top looks with the shape of the pants. Now, I should try my pink shirt like this with my red flowy pants.
Even though the pants are long, I can wear them easily with flats and not trip. I am glad they fit well because I love this type of print and I will wear them often.
Pulling out a color from the print
It just is meant to be when you have tops in several of the colors in the print!
I have 2 tops in royal blue, but I am often drawn to this little tank: the little ruching at the collar just gives it that little extra.
I crossed the ties in the front to create a flat front but less of a bow in the back, so that neither sides at the waist would stick out.
I hope you always have at least 3 outfits in mind to wear anytime you buy something new! This pair of pants is definitely one of my favorite things I bought this summer.

I know, that combo is really neat: flowy and flowy for the win!

I don’t see swimwear at all. Maybe as a coverup. Anyway, I am happy to see all the different ways you have styled them.

Yes, I think they are meant to be a coverup. But my coverups often get wet after pool or beach time, so I like something that dries quickly.

The colour just splashes of the screen! Great trousers especially with the cobalt blue top.

Thanks, Nancy! They are happy pants: I need to bring them to the beach at Thanksgiving: would be nice with my navy sweatshirt or my crochet sweater!

That print and color scheme is so great! I really like it paired with the flowy white top and the royal blue tank, even though they aren’t as fitted as is usually recommended with pants like this. There is such a great cool and relaxed vibe.

Thanks, Sally! It is a fun pair of pants to wear!

They don’t look like swimwear at all! The print and colors are so cute. I love all the different ways you styled them but the first look is my favorite.

This pattern and color are amazing! The pants are perfect for summer! I love such airy styles, so during the heat I often wear my cashmere dresses, which are great for summer.

Airy styles are a must!

I agree – definitely not swimwear! I know people say don’t pair flowy with flowy but I think it looks so chic! That might just be my favorite look. These pants are really so fun!

I sure wouldn’t want to wear it as a cover up. For some reason, I do love that flowy white top with flowy pants. Maybe it’s the cut of that particular top that really makes it work. Thanks!
