Thrifted Denim Vest with Monochrome Black

I thrifted this denim vest a little over a month ago in a little antique booth in town. While my son (the 10 year old) still proclaims it is not my style, I love it! I love the cropped length, the raw hem and the little colorful details. I have worn it a couple ways so far, but this has been my favorite outfit with it, so I had to document it.

While I like colorful outfits, I really do love neutral outfits too. There is something calm and quiet about them. A monochromatic look in a neutral is always classy even if it is casual like this one.

The pants are a gauzy material which makes them perfect for hot summer days. I haven’t found a better pair than these 2 year old sandals for comfort. I wish Target had brought them back in other colors. I bought the necklace in June at a local store that sells fair trade pieces. I will need to visit the store again soon, maybe for my birthday next month. I also bought a cute round basket that day.

The necklace is beads in a double strands and really goes with everything. This picture show the details that set the vest apart from other denim vests. I wish it was a size bigger so I could button it, but I still love it!

Summer break went really fast! Between 2 weeks abroad, a couple camps, a few fun outings and just regular days with chores, it flew by. I am looking forward to routines (we have been back in school a week and a half), but also am looking forward to school breaks ahead.

We are moving my oldest into his college dorm tomorrow. He has a camp with his living community started mid next week and then classes officially start on the 19th for him. I hope he enjoys himself and matures into a hard working man. School has been easy so far, but he will have to study now: bio-medical engineering is going to require some work on his part.

He’s made good decisions in his social life so far and has been very strong academically, but I hope he has a good strong work ethics: he hasn’t struggled yet and that might be a new stage for him. He also hasn’t had a job, and may need a part time one if he runs out of spending money!

I think college will be a good experience for him, like I have told him, balance! Work hard, but also enjoy the experience, make friends and connections and enjoy this stage of life!

A bientôt!
