Tan Vest Outfits Inspired by Jodie and KellyAnn
For the past 6-8 months, I have seen different friends sharing cute outfits with tan vests on IG and on their blogs. I’ve checked the aisles while thrifting but haven’t come across any vests so far. Finally, in June, I did a little internet search and saw that Belk carried some tan vests. Since our little town has a Belk, I decided to see if they carried any in store since I really like to try things on before ordering online. They had something I liked in size medium, but it was too big, so I ordered it in size small. Perfect!
Inspired by Jodie
By now, you know that Jodie is one of my style inspirations. Here is her blog, Jtouchofstyle! Jodie likes to thrift like me and is quite an expert at it, and she has the best hacks to make clothes work for her. This outfit inspired me to put together my church outfit, one Sunday in June.
As you can see, in this case the outfit is very loosely based on her outfit. I am wearing a thrifted skirt in a similar length and I am wearing a tan vest and a turquoise necklace. Since I was going to church I needed my shoulders covered so I wore a Halftee under my vest (shop MIREILLE20 for 20% off).
I used to have a pair of thong sandals very similar to hers in teal, but since I don’t, I decided to wear one of my favorite wedges and an embroidered cuff as my main accessory.
I added a little coral stone ring. I have been carrying my Amazon tote for a while this summer and need to be better at rotating my totes since I have several pretty ones. I did not photograph it this time, but it’s the one I shared in this post.
Inspired by KellyAnn
KellyAnn from This Blonde Shopping Bag often shares classic pieces that are very versatile. There are several items that she shared this year, that I purchased, like my often worn pair of slim jeans from Gap. When she shared this cute outfit inspired by Pinterest, I knew I had some similar items in my closet that I could wear to replicate it.
I love the simplicity of the outfit and I will add some extra accessories when I wear the outfit in the fall. I love the classiness of the gold accents.
Wide leg denim? Check. Tan vest? Check. Black tank top? Check. A simple outfit that I will be wearing this fall as it is a little to warm for denim right now.
The vest is definitely a good buy! I have so many ideas on how to style it summer through fall!
Here is another similar outfit KellyAnn shared with a slightly different vest. Remember getting inspired by others does not mean you have to copy their outfit exactly. You are using their style ideas to make outfits your own outfits.

The waistcoat-style vest over a sleeveless top is a really cute combination – I wouldn’t have thought to try that but it looks great.

Wait till you see my next post with it: it’s my favorite way so far.

Love it with the jeans! A vest is pretty versatile isn’t it.

You are so very good at seeing inspiration in others, Mireille. I never think to save a photo to do the same thing. I need do that. I really think you will get so much wear out of that vest!

I love how you created these looks to match what is in your closet and fit your style. The vest looks great both ways!

Thanks, Laura! It is always fun to find things that are already in my closet to copy an outfit.

You put your own stamp on both of these inspired looks. I would like to try on a vest but not sure I would like it on me. I feel like my breasts are the first thing anyone sees and I hate having much fabric layered over them as they are plenty generous on their own. I always feel funny about wearing white and tan/beige/cream together and yet your little tee and vest look so cute. Wish I could have one of you guys dress me everyday!! And I mean that in the most G-rated way. I just can’t put things together. You are all 3 my style icons.

I definitely am not small chested either but I really liked the vest! I really hope to meet you one day, I think we could have a fun visit!

I always love your “inspired by” posts so much! You are rocking the vest trend. I can really see the inspiration in the first outfit but love that it’s still so different. Both looks are very cute!!
