Monochromatic Beige for Fall
One of the things that I like about the change of seasons and the change in temperatures is how your closet because once again a playground full of “new” things! If you have somewhat defined seasons where you live, you might be putting away some of your clothes for part of the year, so when you switch out your clothes, they feel new once again. Both of these pieces here actually stay out year round (the sweater for cooler nights), but I haven’t worn them together yet. Since I live in Georgia, I can wear sandals at least through most of October even if I don’t often choose to.
You have seen this crochet sweater in April this year, when I visited Jodie and we took blog pictures featuring monochromatic beige. Crochet is perfect for those in between season days: a little warmth but with the holes, you don’t overheat!
Here are some advantages of putting some of your clothes away for part of the year:
- your closet is not overcrowded so your brain is not bombarded by the volume of clothes
- your closet is easier to organize
- the clothes feel like they are new because you haven’t worn them for a season or two
There are probably several disadvantages to storing some clothes away for part of the year. The main one for me is that some clothes can work year round: for example summer dresses will work in the winter with boots and a sweater on top. For that reason, I do keep some of my dresses out year round as well as some crochet sweaters and a pair of shorts or two. For me, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages so winter fabrics, boots, sweaters and some darker skirts are stored away for the warmer months. The very bright skirts dresses and halter tops are put away fall and winter.
I used to be a purse person: right now though, I really only wear a few on rotation and others I wear just for blog pictures. This one, though, is one of my favorites. I like the size and mixed media. I did buy 2 new purses since I started writing this post and will have to share them soon. I found that I like something that is not too big, has some structure to it and if it has some texture, even better.
If you have seen my IG feed, there are a lot of colorful outfits, I am wearing right now, but a neutral light monochromatic look sure holds some appeal too!

That’s an absolutely beautiful outfit and I love the muted neutral shade of the colour. I think most people in the UK put their winter clothes away and then get them out on chillier days. But even in October’s cooler days I still sometimes see younger women in shorts and occasionally sandals too – brrr! Most people however, are wearing boots today as it’s quite cool.
Hope you were safe with that second hurricane.

Thank you, Penny! I think I might have mostly put away the sandals. The mornings have gotten cold and while the afternoons are warming up, I am at the point where I like to wear my fun sneakers. We didn’t get anything from the 2nd hurricane as it only hit Florida and I am north of Atlanta in Georgia.

I always like to change my closet, it feels so refreshing. But I wished I could wear sandals now! Love the neutrals although I never wear such colours myself. Have a great weekend!

That’s a perfect word: it is a closet refresh with the seasons! Enjoy your weekend too!

Beautiful neutral outfit Mireille! And I love that it is so harmonious with your hair. We have four distinct seasons in Maryland, so summer clothes get packed away in winter, and vice versa. It’s always fun to pull clothes out for the changeover and feel like I have a fresh new wardrobe, and also see some seasonal favorites again!

A great example of how this sweater looks so amazing with other items from your closet.
I always say we have 6 months of sandal season here and that’s why my collection has grown, haha.
The only other disadvantage of putting seasonal clothes away is having to have a place to put them. I don’t know where they would go, haha.
XOXO

I like my thin totes that fit in my closet under all the jackets. Keeps it nice and put away!

What a stunning outfit, Mireille! I love everything about it! My closet is big enough to keep almost all of my clothes for all seasons. I am seriously considering, however, taking everything out of it and really weeding out what I don’t wear, doesn’t spark joy, whatever. I am tired of seeing all of that!

That beige sweater is so pretty, and the light neutral is equally great for spring and fall.

Yes, it will work for both seasons.
