Pinks and Reds with the Ageless Style Link Up
Pinks and reds is an appropriate theme for February! I didn’t want to share a look that was very thematic, so when I was putting together a church outfit last month and realized the skirt was predominantly pink, I decided to incorporate it in a look that would work all winter long including February!
Here’s a little breakdown of this outfit: the skirt is a summer skirt from Billabong that I was influenced to buy a couple years ago. It’s a style that I like, but the side slit is really high and you will see my solution for that in the picture below.
High it is! I wore my tulle dress overlay under the skirt and added a slip under that too since it was cold and I was going to church. Look back at 3 Ways I have shared that fun tulle accessory on the blog, over jeans here, over a skirt here, and under a denim skirt here. Since I am really working on wearing my closet, I was very happy when I realized I could wear it for coverage under this skirt! In the past I have worn shorts leggings (probably my favorite outfit –here) as well as magnets for coverage with this skirt. And I wore it without anything also and showed a little leg here!
I kept with the tan undertones of the skirt with some old tan tall boots and a tan sweater: at first I didn’t think I would wear this sweater much, but I have had it for a couple years now and reach for it over and over: it’s warm, and it just works with everything.
I thrifted the red woven clutch early winter for a couple dollars and the red bracelets were from a booth at a local antique/boutique gallery. I try to keep in mind which colors I would like to add to my bracelet collection and add some every so often.
It’s really hard not to go thrifting when you realize how many pieces you have in your closet that were thrifted for great prices! I will say that my winter closet is my favorite for the variety of layers and denim that I have which is why I really don’t need to stop by the thrift store.
I am looking forward to seeing the pink and reds shared by my blogger friends: we all style things so differently and inspire each other and can inspire you!

I love this outfit! That sweater matches the colors in the skirt perfectly. I can see how that incredibly high slit would make the skirt a bit more of a challenge to wear.

I have used my Maggie Snaps with it and typically wear white shorts or Capri leggings with it.

What a pretty outfit! I love the pop of red with the clutch. Oh, that slit is hysterical! I would have sewn it shut, but you came up with a creative solution for sure.

I usually wear white shorts or leggings under. I want to come up with a western outfit with it next.
Gina
What a pretty outfit! I love flowy skirts like that and the boots are a great compliment.

I need to wear it with my cowboy boots next!

This is such a pretty outfit, Mireille. I think it’s something anyone could wear and look polished and ready for the day! What a good idea to put the tulle overlay underneath the skirt and sweater! You are influencing me to shop my closet more and more though a few new things sneak in every once in a while!

I really haven’t had any difficulties shopping my closet this long because I really have so many sweaters and I love my jeans. Then add in some dresses… I can come up with a lot!

Thanks, Debbie! The week has been really nice and low key with the boys off from school and a few outings here and there.

Such a lovely combo, the sweater goes great with the skirt and I really like the idea of the tulle underneath!

The tulle gives it a little extra volume too which is fun.

That’s such a pretty outfit with a nice moving-toward-spring feel, and the pop of red is really fun!

I am looking forward to wearing it in the spring!

Dang, I’m in love with this look for all the right reasons. The layering with the tulle is not only fashionable but functional.
Then adding the red accents is such a modern approach.

I tried to come up with something different, so I was really pleased that my ideas worked in reality.

I love a cozy sweater like this one!

It has become one of my favorite because it works with every single thing in my closet.

Aren’t you clever putting the tulle underneath, I would never think of that. It actually makes me think of Jodie and all the clever ways she styles clothing. Perfect outfit for church or a midday coffee date in the middle of winter. I love to add a splash or color whenever possible, especially during the winter months.

It was really fun and definitely a Jodie thing!

You look like the first tease of spring with this beautiful outfit. My gosh, I love that skirt. Genius to put the tulle underneath (and a slip, too, for warmth). So feminine. I like the simplicity of the sweater paired with the flirty skirt. It allows the skirt to be the star of the show. And your pops of thrifted red accessories add even more interest. I am trying very hard to shop my closet and to stay off Amazon and Loft.com. May have to bite the bullet for more flat shoes and trade in my heels.
Did you guys get hit with this last blast of winter moving across the south and southeast? Our nighttime temps are close to freezing again but we have 85* highs forecasted for next week!!

The skirt makes me look forward to graphic tees with maxi skirts and sneakers or sandals. I did like this combo a lot though! Only one more week of no shopping but I am going to try to stick to only thrifting after that. I am impressed I have done this well (2 and 1/2 months) but I just don’t go near anything tempting! Today, we have a start of the mornings at 18 degrees! But it will warm up to the 60s next week. Crazy!
Jennifer
I love your skirt!
