Graphic Tees for Spring and Summer
After styling a graphic tee last month for our Ageless style link up post, I was inspired to pull out my graphic tees and wear them with a variety of pieces in my closet. None of these combinations are new, but I did try to style them in ways I had not before. Here are outfits I wore a couple weeks ago.
Inspired by Marsha
I was inspired by Marsha’s Ageless Style post last month to put this look together. It is such an easy outfit to recreate as most of us have a white tee and a denim skirt in our closet. My skirt here is actually a thrifted skort and I pulled out my macrame fringe purse for a week or so.
Tee and Maxi Skirt
Graphic tees pair with everything. My favorites are the white or black ones, with grey coming in next. With summer shorts, I tend to wear my other ones that are more colorful. I really liked the comfort of this outfit: I love this thrifted skirt!
Graphic Tee over Dress
I typically add my graphic tees over maxi dresses, so I decided to try a different silhouette. I chose my ruffled yellow dress and add some contrast with my olive tee and sneakers. The t-shirt is tied with a small rubber band in the back.
Tee with Linen Pants and Crochet Vest
There is nothing like texture to add a little interest to a basic outfit. I knew I wanted to style a graphic tee with my linen pants, but I wanted to make the outfit a little more interesting. In comes my thrifted crochet vest: it might not be my favorite outfit, but I did receive a couple of compliments while wearing it.
Tee with Grey Pants
Funny story about these pants: do not wear them if it is really hot and humid in the summer and you tend to sweat. I wore them at a festival and by the time I went home, it looked like I had wet my pants! I’ve been wearing my basic sandals more than not lately as they are more comfortable as I have noticed that my long runs sometimes affect how it feels to wear certain shoes.
Le Soleil Tee and White Crop Denim
I had to give a spot in my closet for this cute little tee I bought this spring for around $5 at Target. While I am trying not to buy clothes there (I think that the only thing I purchased at Target this year), I couldn’t pass up a French saying tee that didn’t have any spelling mistakes (that’s my pet peeve).
A bientôt!

It’s great that Marsha’s post inspired you to get creative with your graphic tees. Your combinations are all so stylish and comfortable-looking, especially the tee with the maxi skirt and the one over the ruffled yellow dress. That Target find was a steal, and it looks adorable with the white denim.

Thanks, Benita! I nice to wear things you haven’t for a while, and typically it’s someone else inspiring me.

This is the ultimate compliment! Thank you!! You have the best graphic tees, and I love how you’re so willing to experiment with them. I have worn sweaters over dresses, but I never thought about over a dress! Love that purple skirt!

Thanks, Marsha! Yes, I like to occasionally add a tee over a dress especially with sleeveless dresses.

I never liked graphic tees until I started blogging and saw other bloggers styling them in a way I never thought of myself. They look great!

I love that T-shirt over the shorter yellow dress especially!
But seriously, it’s like these shirts, just work with everything.

The ombré look on that purple skirt is great!
When I didn’t work from home yet, graphic tees were my signature style for decades – prompting my ex to say once I should stop dressing like a 13 year old, then picking the most ridiculous blouse for me which convinced him not to try any longer. I worked around many students and got a lot of compliments on my geeky shirts, so I was glad I never listened to him 😉
Great outfits!

Some graphic tees are really fun and if the students compliment then they are winners!

It’s a face I go through: sometimes I wear them a lot sometimes it’s weeks in between.

You have a wonderful colletion of tees! I didnt’ realize that the purple skirt is actually a dress when I saw it on Insta. Great layering!

Yes, the yellow is a dress! It’s fun to make it look different!

The mushroom T over the mustard yellow dress is my favorite, but that may be because I absolutely adore the mushrooms, haha! Your “basic sandals” are such a versatile style, they look great in these looks.

That’s funny! I actually saw a kid wearing that tee at the middle school the other day!
