Red for Summer: Shopping my Closet

I think I came across red for summer as a styling idea when I was looking for some spring and summer blog inspiration. I’ve always loved red, and have a few pieces in my closet, but I don’t always reach for them. Writing blog posts and sharing outfits really inspires me to shop my closet and rediscover loved items that I haven’t worn in a while. And I tell you, some outfits really put a little bounce in my step such as this first outfit.

Boho Pants and Denim Vest

I bought these fun pants on Poshmark after borrowing my friend’s navy pair for a blog post (here) and have worn this red pair several times on the blog. These might be my favorite way to style them though!

I think that my favorite thing about these pants (apart from the color) is how they swish when you walk. It’s kind of like wearing a maxi skirt but as pants. I’ve tried different tops with them from printed leopard and floral tops to neutrals and I think my favorite is the simplicity of a black top. I did want to add some interest, so I added this fun vest I thrifted a year or so ago.

Tie-Dye Flowy Dress

I had not worn my flowy tie dye dress in a while, so I went with an easy pairing of layering a Halftee under and wearing white sneakers.

I used Jodie’s trick of using a bangle and a rubber band to create a gathering like a fake button to add interest to this very flowy dress (the bangle goes under the dress and you wrap your clear small elastic over and around it). I wore this to my son’s middle school Honors Night. I added some minimal jewelry to finish off the look.

Do you have a color you really enjoy wearing? Are you most comfortable in fitted or flowy pieces or do you like a little bit of everything?
