Daily Outfits: Long Island, NY in the Spring
Well, this was one of those trips where I should have repacked after the forecast changed! It originally was going to be sunny during our week on Long Island, but the weather turned out cool and cloudy for most of the trip. I had packed a variety of shorts, linen pants in navy, white and stripes and while I wore some of what I packed, I also went thrifting for 2 pair of pants: a pair of cropped jeans and a pair of cropped olive pants. I wore sweatshirts everyday for at least part of the day and mostly wore the one pair of sneakers I brought along.
This is one of the pair of pants I thrifted and this was the rainiest day we had which was more of a mist than rain. I first wore my denim shirt, but since I knew it would be windy on the ferry trip, I switched to my sweatshirt. I typically wear a crossbody belt bag on trips to keep my bag close to my body.
This is the second pair of pants I thrifted. I really like this pair of jeans! Again, the sweatshirt was needed in the morning, but by midday it was closer to 70 so I was able to take it off.
We visited Montauck and East Hampton on this day.
As you can see, I wore my sneakers every day! This top is one I thrifted a couple years ago, and I love how light it is! When in Montauck, I splurged on a souvenir sweatshirt and after the first few days, that was the sweatshirt I reached for in the mornings.

I wore my dress to church on Sunday and I will be sharing more pictures of my outfit for NYC next week. I did wear my white jeans on the plane ride over but didn’t take a picture of either plane travel days.
What didn’t I wear?
- 2 pair of shorts
- 2 pair of sandals
- 2 tank tops and 2 halter tops
- bathing suits and cover up
- straw tote
- 1 pair of pjs
A bientôt!

We had the opposite problem on our Acadia trip; it was supposed to be cool and cloudy all week and ended up being so hot and sunny but we had all packed long pants!

I will learn to trust the weather app and not pack for the weather I wish but the weather that is!

It’s good you were able to find those jeans…and, they look fantastic! I rely on weather apps and switch out at the last minute. The year we took our two week train trip which started with snow in Chicago and went all around the West Coast down through New Orleans was tough. I planned that one out so I could layer and mix and match.

I think I have learned from this trip!

Despite the unexpected cool and cloudy weather, you smartly adjusted by thrifting for warmer pants and making the most of your sweatshirts and sneakers. It’s a great reminder that even the best-laid packing plans can go awry, and being flexible can save the day

I hope I learned my lesson, lol!

It makes it so hard when the weather changes. But I never consider it a bad thing to have to go shopping, LOL

The sneakers are a great addition to all these well-improvised outfits!

They were the perfect shoe!

Oh that is so annoying. But luckily you found some great trousers to wear instead.

Yes, and I know I will wear both pairs here in the fall and spring.

You thrifted some great pants! Good thing you could find them. It’s no fun being out and about in clothes not suitable for the tempeature. I love your sneakers!

Yes, traveling has enough stressors without being too cold or hot!

I love your Paris sweatshirt! When I was in Istanbul, I packed lots of skirts and dresses but it was cold 😩

The weather was especially disappointing because we rented a house with a pool and we didn’t get to swim at all!

I know how disappointing it can be when the weather isn’t all sunshine on a vacation. I experienced it once and ever since then i make sure i cheack the weather for whatever country i am visiting.

Sorry that the weather changed but you still look fabluous as ever! We are headed to DC for the 4th and I have a feeling it’s going to be really hot so dresses should be on the agenda.
