Classic Look with Thrifted White Button Down

I do not have many button-downs in my closet because I haven’t found many that fit my style and that I have wanted to wear. However, this summer I changed that one day with scoring not just one but two white button-downs while thrifting and bonus, they were 50% off so my grand total was less than $5 for both! I shared one a couple weeks ago (here) and today, I am sharing the other. This one caught my eye with its long shirt tails and 3/4 sleeves: I usually will cuff the sleeves, so that detail was a no brainer, “yes, ma’am, I am buying this”.

Because of the long hem, I wanted to wear it with something longer (and not shorts), so I pulled out my cropped slim jeans. I opted for my Bensimon sneakers instead of flip flops and kept my accessories simple.

You can see the pointy shirt tails below, they split from the waist down, so it is not constrictive at all. It is a fun detail and I think it will look cute with a skirt too.

This year, I greatly reduced what I am buying retail: I think I bought maybe 4-5 pieces in the spring (a skirt at Francesca, a tee at Target, 2 pants at Old Navy), I had a 2 month shopping break and the rest of the clothes I bought were thrifted. I did buy a number of things at Just Beautiful Boutique on my trip to Arizona just last month. Because I make thoughtful decisions, I haven’t been donating much: a few older pieces I wasn’t wearing made the donation pile and I threw out a pair of old sandals that were coming apart for the second time.

My clutch was thrifted too and I really love the handle: it makes it more practical for every day use. The size works well for holding all the essentials.

It’s always interesting to take pictures in the summer with bright blue skies and the sun out. This was before 9 am and we had to figure out shadows and light. Cloudy days usually make it a little easier.

I really like the classic style of this outfit. Simple, unassuming, but still very stylish.

A bientôt!
