Winter Bucket List and December Recap 2025

It’s time for my winter bucket list and December recap and I am joining some friends! Feel free to join us in the link up! I shared my November favorites here and just wanted to add a few things to my fall recap. December has been busy, November sure had some highs (vacation), and lows (mom’s health), but God is good. We enjoyed our annual Thanksgiving beach trip and I did well on my no shopping till November 1st (about 40 day break). Limiting sugar? Not so good!

December Recap

  • Bethlehem Walk: I will be sharing that next Wednesday!
  • We took a ride around our neighborhood to see the lights: it took us one hour, the neighborhood has really grown
  • hot cocoa bar several times a week
  • Christmas parade
  • watched the Nutcracker with the local ballet with friends
  • Jingle jog (so fun), my friends and I dressed up as reindeer and pulled Santa in his sleigh
  • put up a real tree in the game room (the rest of the house was the same as previous years)
  • Boys school concert
  • I wore all kinds of festive outfits
  • run and walks with friends
  • found a Georgian restaurant in Roswell: so delicious!
  • hosted our annual Sunrise Crew Christmas breakfast last Saturday

We really enjoyed all of the things this month!

Goal Setting for Winter

  • get on track with reducing sugar intake and get back to increasing protein (I have a hard time when we eat vegan, but there is a little bit of time before lent)
  • drink more water and keep on moving
  • in anticipation of my parents moving in at some point in the spring:
    • get the downstairs bathroom handicap friendly and add door in hallway
    • declutter guest bed closet, re-home legos to the boys room and get media room ready for big TV/couch (shop for those).
    • sell foosball table

I had a hard time limiting sugar and adding more protein in too; though I did really well for about 2 weeks (while I wore a continuous glucose monitor to track how I did)… but as soon as it came off we jumped right into holiday parties and some parties make it feel pretty impossible to eat well! Hopefully as soon as January rolls around I can pick those habits back up.

You should google or ask ChapGPT about how to get more protein when you’re vegan for that time. Because it’s so important for us women at this age. and sometimes it can be the combination of food.
It’s so wonderful to keep track of events. This way, and it makes you realize how wonderful the time period is.

Enjoyed catching up with you. Love the idea of the jingle jog. Wish I had a slow jogging group to run with. Like a group of graying grandmas who don’t run fast or far!! Interested to read that your parents will be moving in with you guys. Sounds like you have a good situation for them with a dedicated bedroom and bathroom, and maybe a sitting area – the space where you will be putting the couch? I know that will be life changing for everyone. Hope it is a blessing, too.

Yes, I think even though there will be some adjustments and some struggles, there will be some blessings too.

Your December goals were lovely and very inspiring. Your new goals suggest some big life changes ahead. Hope all goes well. I don’t normally eat much sugar but did succumb in December and noticed poor sleep on the days I ate sugar, and cravings. I’ve definitely knocked it on the head and am eating more protein and salads again. Thanks for supporting #TuesdayTwirl so consistently.

I am really working on cutting back my carbs and sugars again because like you said, I can feel a difference in my body and moods.
