Navy Combinations for a Mild Winter

Are you tired of seeing pink and reds this month? Today I am sharing some inspiration with navy that can have you looking at your closet with fresh eyes. Navy is a neutral that pairs well with many colors. While you can pair it with another neutral (like the polka dot dress at the end of the post), it is really fun to pair it with bright colors. These are like a ray of sunshine on a winter day. I’ve been thinking that having a pair of navy boots would be really fun in the winter, but since I don’t, I wore different shoes I already have.

Navy and Yellow

This is not the first time I paired navy and yellow! I shared a fun spring outfit here, navy and white (here – why did I get rid of that jumpsuit?), navy and bright pink (here) and here is a really early blog throwback with navy and olive! I definitely go through phases of reaching for my few navy pieces while sometimes I forget about them. These two pieces, the sweatshirt and the embroidered coat are two of my favorites. I wore this the weekend of the winter storm (yes, bare ankles) because I knew I would spend most of my time indoors.

Navy with Brights

What a pretty contrast! I don’t think I have ever paired these two colors together and I love the combo! My cropped sweaters are great for wearing over dresses: they do not need to be tucked under with a belt to have my favorite proportion. I added a scarf for extra warmth since winter days can be cold in the south.

I definitely think that my favorite way to wear navy is with brights! Another great contrast and the fun shoes just tie it all together. This little exercise with color pairing had me reassess the place of this jumpsuit in my closet. While it has nothing wrong with it, I haven’t worn it in a couple of years.

Printed Navy and Tan

I have been wanting to wear this dress for a while: it’s a very classic style, sleeveless which I like, but it is not my favorite (I really love boho elements), so I pulled a heavy knit sweater and my boots to wear with it. I have worn this combination before with a tan crochet sweater.

Monochrome Navy

I love this thrifted navy velvet top and look forward to wearing it some more next winter. I wore with the jeans around Christmas time, but I appreciate that the colors don’t scream holidays, so it can work all summer long. It is very soft.

A bientôt!
