Boone, NC: Snowed in!
Well, we technically were not snowed in at all! However, we were very excited that the ever changing forecast during our stay actually did stay true and we did get 3-4 inches of snow. The predictions kept changing and ranged from less than an inch to 8 inches. so we were grateful for what we got. For all of you Northerners, us Southerners do get excited when we get snow. The last time it snowed near Atlanta was 6 years ago and we drove 5 and half hour to Boone, NC in hopes to see snow on this short winter break!
I went on 3 walks in the snow and I loved each of them. The first was solo when the snow was starting to stick. I then convinced my teen to join me and that was really fun before it was getting dark and it was snowing hard enough that our footprints were disappearing!
I wonder when it will snow at home, but it probably won’t this year. At least, we got our snow fix on this trip and are now ready for spring. The snow is so beautiful!
Everything looks clean and peaceful when the snow first falls and when it is untouched by humans. We thought these lights were pretty against the snow and the shadow they cast caught our eye.
My son and I were going through different scenarios if we were to encounter a bear. Thankfully we didn’t come across any wild animals that even but we did see 4 deer in the morning.
On the morning walk, my husband and my 9 year old accompanied me. It was fun to see his reactions to the ice, the snow and everything around us. I don’t think he remembered the last time it snowed in Atlanta.
I love sunrises at the beach but sunrises in the snow are quite gorgeous too! The snowfall made our trip special and the boys enjoyed a little sleeding and some snowball fights. They even managed to make a little snowman.
A bientôt!

Thank you, we enjoyed it.

I’m so glad you got to see the snow. I appreciate it more now that I’m retired and don’t have to drive to a job in it. The lights against the snow were exceptionally pretty. We got only a dusting of snow here in Asheville this winter, and honestly, I was a bit disappointed.

I was glad we got some that weekend. I like it because when it snows in the south everything shuts down and it’s playtime!

Back to reality in Georgia with weather in the 80s!

It always amazes me when people just go gaga over the snow like this. In a good way. But boy, I don’t miss it. Maybe in 20 years!!

That’s because we have never lived where it snows a lot!

Beautiful photos. While I was in Ukraine, it snowed so heavily, in contrast to the snowfall that we see around here, which isn’t very often.

Thank you for sharing all this beauty with us. We haven’t had any snow to speak of here, in El Paso. But we did get to see and play in the snow over New Year’s in New Mexico. In my book there is nothing like it. So beautiful. So clean. I love the hush and quiet of snow faling. Your photos are just stunning.

I was surprised the couple of times my brother got some in Albuquerque

I love snow!!! And, I would definitely drive to celebrate in it! I’m actually jealous of the people who live north of us because they’re going to get quite a bit!
Your photos are gorgeous…especially the ones with the lights making patterns on the snow and the ones with the deer! Thanks so much for sharing these!

Me too. I would move a couple states north of here to at least get a yearly snowfall.

These pictures look absolutely beautiful. I totally understand your excitment about seeing snow, In Sydney, we have to travel 4 hours to see the snow in the mountains in winter season. Anna

Exactly! For people who don’t see snow often, just a little snow is lots of fun.

I don’t like snow at all, because here it always turns into mud. But there it looks amazing. The sound of walking in fresh snow is wonderful.
mimifce
That is because in the south we don’t get much. The states with the reel snow, it looks like mud too after a while.

Looks like Indiana at times. It’s so beautiful.

Snow is so beautiful and you got a lot. I am sure it is more special when you don’t see it every year like I do! Ha, ha! That was more than just a dusting too. So fun that you got to experience it!
