Winter Break Outfits: Sweatshirts and Jackets
It was fun to plan a comfortable but stylish winter break wardrobe! I packed a little more than what I wore but that gave me some options. I typically pack more when we drive versus when we fly. Of course, I looked at the forecast first and since we were planning to go snow tubing, I planned accordingly. These outfits feature sweatshirts and jackets!
Sweatshirts
A thrifted tunic length sweatshirt worked great for my traveling outfit. I drove the 5 1/2 hour drive so my husband could get some work done on the way to North Carolina. I did throw out these thrifted boots after the trip as they were at the end of their life. Leggings are always comfortable for a drive or a flight and worked well on this occasion.
Another thrifted sweatshirt that you might have seen in the February Sunday Showcase with a leopard wrap skirt in this post. It’s really cozy and I do like that it is white so it really works with everything.
This was a really fun outfit to wear and I felt really cute in it. As many of my readers told me in this post, the boots really made the outfit!
Jackets
2023 has been a great thrifting year so far: case in point, this great warm colorful jacket. I almost passed it without trying it on because it was a size large. Then I remembered, that size does not mean anything so I should try it. I am so glad I did because I love this jacket and have worn it many times in the last few weeks.
I don’t wear my Sorel snow boots very often but I am always glad for them when I do. They are warm and keep my foot dry while look pretty cool. They are a little difficult to put on but they are worth the effort. My winter coat (which I didn’t wear much this year since it was not cold much) was an end of season buy a couple years ago and another great winter coat. We were really glad to have had snow on this trip!
We invested in snow pants a year or so ago for times like this: it is much more fun to play in the snow when you know you are going to be warm and dry. They were perfect for our playtime in the snow and our snow tubing day.
All in all, I was pleased with what I packed and it was appropriate and still cute for a winter trip.
A bientôt!

You would think that living in New England I would own a pair of snow/ski pants.. but I never really have as an adult up until 2 years ago and it really does make it a lot more enjoyable to be outside now! LOL. I find I always pack more when we’re driving too. I love that I can so I take full advantage.

It definitely makes a difference when you play in it, being dry makes it more fun.

That’s funny, I just saw some programs on the telly where they talked about sizes and the psychical effect the size label has. So it’s good of you that you tried the coat anyway.
mimifce
Yes. I agree.

The red jacket is a real stand-out piece that automatically makes a simple outfit look fun. Snow pants are a very smart purchase!

Thanks, Sally! It might get cold enough a few more times this season to wear it again.

Good job on snagging that coat Mireille. I swear that many coats SHOULD be bigger anyways because we have layers on under them.
And I love to see you posing in the snow,
XOXO

I have been finding some great pieces and getting better about not getting the stuff that I am unsure of.

Lots of cute sweatshirts and boots! I always hate throwing away shoes… even when they’re at the end of their life I’m reluctant to get rid of them because it means I have to find a replacement! Sounds like a fun trip. Sorel boots are definitely the best!

I agree! I had to get rid of a grey pair of boots a couple years ago and I never found a pair to replace them. Those Sorels will last years and years since I only wear them a couple times a year.

I think your outfits are stylish and perfect for the occasions! I really need to get a new pair of snow boots. Those Sorels look toasty!

Those Sorels have been great and since I only wear them a couple times a year, they have lasted years and years.

So many great pieces! Love that red jacket. And with sizes, sizing is so weird, the blue and white dress I got from Turkey- that was a large!!

I haven’t regretted the boots even I had to buy them in a smaller size since I didn’t want to wait. Thankfully they are comfortable.

Winter wear is so important! It makes such a difference. We didn’t have a great winter for snow play, but I’m always glad for my snow pants and boots when we do! Of course there si still plenty of time for more snow through March so there is a chance it may get used!

They sure are practical for making play in the snow comfortable.

I love seeing you in the snow, you look very much at ease and totally at home. I also love good winter gear and although I tire of having to wear it 5 months of the year daily, I am always grateful for it for all the reasons you mentioned. Love the white boots with the Be Kind shirt. You look like a teenager! Looks like you got pretty good weather as well and hopefully fun was had by all.

I love it! I really wish we got some here but probably not 5 months of the year, lol!

You’re right about jacket sizing! We have to be able to fit our bulky layers underneath! I love your red statement coat!
