A Day in my Life

I always enjoy getting a peek into other’s people daily life so I decided to share another one: I thought I had shared more of these posts in the past, but these were the only two that I could pull up: I wonder what I would have named them.

Here are a couple old ones:

I chose a day towards the end of March to share: March was a month full of appointments (eye doctors, dentists and some of my parents appointments) as well as a tennis month for my 14 year old.

6:10 Alarm clock rings: I really like my alarm on my Garmin watch because it is not too loud and wakes me up right away. This is the time I wake up every morning Monday thru Friday. I wake up at 5:35 on Saturdays to run and turn my alarm off on Sundays.

6:20 I get the boys up: I did not have to prepare lunch: Thursdays are usually pizza day at the Primary and Elementary school

6:40 We drive to the corner for the bus stop (for the 11 year old) and I drop my youngest at the school which is in the neighborhood.

7:00 ish to 7:45 ish: I make my teen his PB and J (because he makes such a mess) and he will put together the rest of his lunch. I have my coffee and I make my bed. I post on IG and take him to school. I also refresh our guinea pig’s cage and food/water.

8:15-8:45 Blog work: respond to comments, visit 2 Link ups and favorite blogs. I also balance my checkbook and start highlighting spending categories in preparation of adding those up at the end of the month.

8:45-10:00 Aldi: I shop at Aldi on Thursday and Kroger on Friday. Dividing my grocery shopping in two days makes the day go smoother.

A few things that I really like at Aldi: their sourdough loaf, the frozen fruit, condiments, fresh veggies.

10:15 After taking a video of my grocery “haul” and putting them away, I head to my eye doctor appointment. I drive 30 minutes to the Woodstock Target where we have been seeing the same optometrist for probably a dozen years. Eye prescription is about the same, but we are going to correct the slight astigmatism in my left eye. I order contacts for the year.

I bought a little fun glass cup at Aldi for $3.99. Sometimes, it’s just fun to drink out of a pretty cup! I am wearing school colors (purple and gold) because it is the regionals tournament for middle school. I am wearing one my oldest’s school shirts. The advantage of your children graduating from high school is that you can wear their spirit wear because they won’t anymore.

12:15- 2:00 Lunch and a walk in the neighborhood. If I am not walking or running with my friend (and neighbor), I try to walk 2 miles in the neighborhood. I have been listening to the Office Ladies podcast as we have watched the Office TV episodes many times. It’s been fun to hear background stories and some of the things that are involved in filming a TV series.

I typically post my walks/runs on IG stories to keep myself accountable and encourage others. I haven’t posted my lunches much during lent because they have been kind of boring: a lot of humus wraps and the occasional protein fruit smoothie.

2:00 I walk to pick up my youngest from school and we hang out on the couch till his brother gets home.

3:00 I have already prepped a bag to take to the tennis tournament which is 45 minutes away: hats, snacks, water, white boards and markers to play hangman. We ordered a pizza and cheese bread from Little Caesarts to pick up.

4:00-8:00 Tournament: my son plays doubles and his teammate and him win their 3 games: 8-0, 8-6 and 8-5. The school had already won as a school team as regional champions so today was to rank each single or doubles. He is excited to have made first place especially that it took him 3 years to make the team (this is a new coach which I think made better decisions on who to take on the team).

This is a picture from earlier in the week. I didn’t want to share the pictures from the tournament as the boys are showing their brackets which has names of all the students from the different schools.

It was a fun afternoon and night and we stopped by Buccees before heading home.

9:00 The two youngest boys head to bed, while this one remembers his homework! I read in bed before going to sleep at around 10 PM.

And there you have it! A day in my life!

A bientôt!

WowI didn’t realize the kids had to go to school so early. I have to admit that’s the one thing I really enjoy about.Being retired is not setting an alarm to get up in the morning.
It’s also smart to split up your grocery shop in that way.

Interested that you grocery shop at 2 different stores on 2 different days. Wish we had an Aldis. My niece works for Aldis as a regional manager and she loves her company. We just have so few grocery shopping options here. I dread shopping so much that I would not want to go twice in a week. But often have to start another grocery list as soon as I have purchased, brought home and put away an order of groceries as I always leave something out!

Congrats to your tennis player. Both of my babies were tennis players in high school. I get it about making the PB&J yourself to save mess. Sometimes it is just easier to do it yourself.

I need to have a schedule for blog work. I think that is why I am always flying by the seat of my pants. Would like to commit to posting on IG once a day and would like to try doing little reels or videos talking about my day. I just feel so shy. Going to make that a summer goal.

Proud of your commitment to health and exercise. Always enjoy seeing your OOTD and your exercise journaled on IG. Maybe I could just start little by doing something like that??
