Another visit to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens
Last week, I went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with two of my running friends. I really wanted to see the Alice in Wonderland exhibition before they took it down (mid-September) and wanted to plan one fun outing a week till my birthday. We stopped by the French bakery for some breakfast and then decided to get some sandwiches to go too! We took advantage of a Groupon for our admission to the gardens which saved us $10.

One of the things that I enjoy at the botanical gardens is that you see something different each time you go. Tulips and roses in the spring, there is usually an amazing display of orchids (more than the usual ones) once a year and there are several traveling exhibition. This time, in addition to the Alice in Wonderland, there were some “magical trees” which I will share in an upcoming post, the Enchanted Trees by Poetic Kinetics.
I was so impressed with the fun wrapper the bakery used for the sandwiches. I plan to stop by for my birthday! The simple ham and cheese on buttered baguette was perfect.

It was a hot day, so shorts and a halter top were a great choice of outfit. The wooden flower earrings were a nod to the location!
The hibiscus were beautiful. We were lucky that one of our friends knew all of the names of the plants and flowers. It was fun to have someone knowledgeable with us!
We enjoyed watching the bees on these blooms: they have the funniest name: it is a Cat Whisker’s plant! Isn’t the diversity in plants in God’s creation amazing?

Can you spy the lizard? One of my friends brought her 4 year old along and he was a delight! So well behaved and he enjoyed the visit despite the heat. It was fun to see this lizard and point it out to him. It really is well camouflaged. Come by next Wednesday for more pictures from our visit!

A bientôt!

Thanks, Catherine! We haven’t been to as many botanical gardens as zoos, so I need to add that to my list when we visit other cities.
