Spring Trend 2026: Double Denim

The double denim or Canadian tuxedo has been around for a while (since 1951). I have seldom if ever worn 2 blue denim pieces of different washes together, so when I read that it was a spring trend this year, I thought I would try my hand at it. Of course, I had what I needed in my closet and chose my favorite denim skirt to pair with a contrasting denim shirt. I also shared some daily outfits on the blog last year for 2025 spring trends (bohemian dream here, petal pink here and pistachio here). Today’s outfit is the first of 3 trends I will share this year, shopped from my closet, but this month’s Ageless post did combine several of this year’s trends in one look.

I am loving this outfit so much that now I am thinking of other combinations of denim I can create in my closet: I have other denim skirts, but also different types of jeans that I can combine with my two denim shirts (as well as some lighter summer denim tops). The possibilities are endless.

I always smile and laugh with one of the boys makes a comment about taking pictures for me: the younger ones especially think it is silly to take pictures of outfits and share them, but I really find joy in wearing something that makes me smile. There are enough stressors in life and things that can cause anxiety, that it is nice to find joy in silly things. Yes, my faith is more important than my daily pictures and my outfits, but sharing inspiration brings a smile to my face and is a nice hobby!

Feeling good in what I wear gives me a more positive outlook on my day. It’s called dopamine dressing: it boosts your mood! It brings you up instead of bringing you down. I know that my 80 year old mom feels the same way: when she is having a good day and is wearing an outfit she enjoys, it brings her up! So let’s continue to get dressed in outfits that boost our moods!

Shoes are new (Walmart, I had to size down so they wouldn’t slip off my feet), tote was thrifted last year, denim shirt is thrifted and the belt came with a different skirt. I love all the raffia details in this outfit: it really gives it a spring vibe.

A bientĂ´t!
