Winter Recap and Spring Bucket List

Today, I am sharing my spring bucket list and doing a little winter recap! Here were some goals I posted at the end of December:

  • get on track with reducing sugar intake and get back to increasing protein (I have a hard time when we eat vegan, but there is a little bit of time before lent) Not awesome!
  • drink more water and keep on moving Ran a 5 K and a half marathon, some walking and running
  • in anticipation of my parents moving in at some point in the spring:
    • get the downstairs bathroom handicap friendly and add door in hallway: Done!
    • declutter guest bed closet, re-home legos to the boys room and get media room ready for big TV/couch (shop for those): Bought couches and accomplished the rest (need to shop for TV and sound system)
    • sell foosball table Done!

We went on two overnight trips, a trip to North Carolina to visit the Biltmore Estate and a trip to Tennesee to visit an underground lake.

I’ve booked our lodging/plan tickets for our trip to Colorado this summer. My oldest got on campus lodging for next year which is a stress taken off! I’ve enjoyed morning coffee on the porch whenever I can and enjoyed some treats from the French Bakery around Valentine’s Day.

Spring Bucket List

I do not have a lot on my bucket list apart from mostly some outings:

  • I got a membership to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens so I would like to go at least once or twice this spring
  • Hike with the boys during spring break
  • move in my parents mid May
  • do a little spring cleaning (emphasis on clean, decluttering in not as needed)
  • Run the Northside Women 4 miler in May

I am not doing awesome with limiting sugar either; I seem to go through spurts where I do really well and then it all just goes off the rails and I’m fighting to get back to limiting it. You did great with the rest of your goals! We’re still waiting to hear about both boys’ campus lodging for next year. Alec should know within the next week or so but Evan doesn’t find out until mid- July (however, both are required to live on campus so we know it will be on campus somewhere– so that doesn’t make it nearly as stressful!).

That’s such a good idea to have a list of good-things to do. I have one too – for my 80th!!!

And well done you for moving your parents to your home – a big commitment. But multi-generational familes can be a blessing. All the very best for that.

Thanks, Penny! The plan is to move them in after our vacation in June. We need to start working on reducing the things they have over the next 2 months.

We are wondering if we should resubscribe to the botanical gardens this year…it’s so limited when we can go and now that Lesley can’t walk, it’s a struggle. I bet your sugar intake thing is linked to the amount of protein…either that or hormones.

We have had the membership for some years and not for others… more not =) but now that I have a more laid back schedule, I think I will use it enough this coming year to make it worthwhile. I did get the membership when they offered a discount and 2 extra month free! And I agree about the sugar.. I usually crave it more during times I eat vegan because I don’t eat nearly as much protein. Missing my eggs!

I’m not as “addicted” to sugar as I used to be – for example, sweetened coffee is too much for me, unlike years ago, but when I treat myself to something sweet I can barely stop myself!
As for the spring cleaning, I do need it too, but I also DO need a declutter because my wardrobe is an absolute overflowing mess!

I definitely do better when I stay away from sugar, then I don’t crave it. Recently, though stress has been pushing me towards it.

Been thinking of you, sweet friend. I hope moving your parents into your home goes as smoothly as possible. We bought our particular house/floor plan because it has a downstairs bedroom and bath that we were sure we would need for at least one of our parents. But Paul’s mom is the only one left and she swears she will not leave her house.

You accomplished much on making your home grandparents-ready. Always so impressed with your running. Had hoped to try another 5K this spring but it is so expensive to register to run here. I just hate spending $40 to run.

I went running with friends today at 7 am instead of 6 am: it was really nice and we saw the sunrise! We get a break on the entry fees for the races our running club coaches time which is a lot of the local ones. So those are $20 instead of 40. I only do a few a year nowadays so much better on the wallet.
