Mother’s Day Outfit: Gingham Dress

I always like to dress up a little for Mother’s Day and when I was thinking about what I would wear, this dress came to mind. I had not worn it yet at the time of these pictures, but paired with my little jacket, it would work for church. We moved in my parents with us a few weeks ago and are adjusting to our new routine and family dynamics. We created a haven on our 3rd floor for ourselves to have a space to chill and hang out when we want time apart. A movie room with a big screen and comfy couches and a new space for our game room. are across my college kid’s room.  I am very thankful for the size of our house.

One of my favorite things about this dress is the high low hem and how flowy it is. I like that it shows off my sandals and the gingham is vibrant. I really didn’t think too much about how I would wear it when I ordered it from my friend’s boutique, but I was tempted by it because it was different than anything I own (no gingham to be found in my closet).

I really want to get back to having a picnic once a week away from the house. I have several spots nearby that I enjoy going to for a change of scenery.I love eating outdoors, breathing in fresh air, seeing birds fly and just enjoying nature in general. It’s a good way to recharge.

I love the movement of the skirt of this dress. I think these walking pictures and the one below really capture that movement. The dress is one that is easy to steam: it is not very environmental friendly being mostly polyester, but it feels good on and it’s a fun one to wear. I probably will also wear it as a skirt by tucking the bodice into the waist of the dress.

More than likely, I will wear the dress with a layer on top, whether a denim jacket or a white shirt, or even a light sweater. Of course, before I go, I need to share that my husband said I looked like a picnic in this dress. The print is definitely one that makes you think of a picnic in a grassy field.

Such a cute outfit! You’ve inspired me to get out a black and white gingham top that I have and pair it with white or black linen pants. Thanks for today’s outfit idea!😉
