Be a Joy Seeker: A Picnic a Week
A few weeks ago, Charlotte from Vivi and Margot (here is her IG) shared the word joy seeker in one of her posts, talking about the small joys in life. I promptly adopted that word to describe those moments during the day when I try to pause and just soak up the joy of the small things that bring me pleasure. One of those things is having a weekly (or almost weekly) picnic. I enjoy being outdoors and eating outdoors and having a beautiful scene to look at while I eat is a bonus. It helps me relax and recharge.

One of the places I like to go to is the Indian Mounds near my house. It’s a 5 minute drive, and a 5 minute walk from the entrance brings me to the river. I bring a blanket to eat on and to lay down if I want to. I eat watching the river and just soak up the peace and quiet.
Springtime is a great time to have a picnic here because all kinds of wildflowers grow in the fields by the mounds.
I typically take advantage of the pretty scenery to take my daily outfit video. The blanket below is a packable blanket that I keep in my car, it is reversible and very easy to wipe down.
I really do love this place and am so thankful it is a quick drive from the house. I often take pictures for the blog in the parking lot which is also picturesque.
Do you enjoy picnics? Or do you find them to be too much trouble? I would like to bring my husband here for a little date… but springtime is not the time for him because all the grass and tree pollen would make him sneeze!
A bientôt!

I would love to do this here in Chicago but the weather isn’t there quite yet. This place looks heavenly!

This week was too busy to do it. I need to plan out next week and see when I can do it. Maybe Monday!

Wow…. That’s so impressive that you do that alone. I do love being outside to eat our breakfasts and lunches. And dinners, but i’m not sure I would just go someplace by myself.

It takes some getting used to, but it sure is easier than trying to convince someone to join me. And I can do it on the spur of the moment.

That’s a amazing spot for a picknick! I also love to eat outside. But a place like that is not on our doorstep.

What a beautiful reminder to slow down and enjoy simple moments. I love the idea of becoming a “joy seeker,” and your picnic challenge sounds like such a fun way to make everyday life feel a little more special. The photos were gorgeous too — everything looked so cheerful and inviting!

The wildflowers were at their peek then!

I have to admit I do find them quite a lot of work… But at the same time I think they’re lovely.

I think for me the difference has been the location: finding a place close to home and taking a simple lunch.

That looks really lovely. Unfortunately, it would be too much work for me because good spots are too far for me to walk.

I am very thankful for the location where I live!

I like picnics in theory but family outings need a bit of planning and the UK weather doesn’t always deliver. I should be a bit more spontaneous – we’re in a heatwave at the moment – but I always overthink everything! Your picnic spot looks lovely. Thanks for linking.

Right now we are having a week of rain: don’t think I will be picnicking anytime soon!
