4th of July Outfit Inspiration for the Sunday Showcase

Each year, I enjoy sharing some outfit inspiration for the holidays by using some older and newer pieces in my closet. The first outfit is completely shopped from my closet with pieces at least 2 years old. The 2nd outfit features a new pair of fun pants from the Brindle Boutique (use code MIREILLE for 25% off) and other pieces from my closet. The pants were purchased in May so I am still doing well with my summer no shop. Shop you Closet For patriotic holiday, I like to shop my closet for pieces in the red, blue and white color scheme without being too obvious and literal with my…

A Neutral Outfit Inspired by this Blonde Shopping Bag

KellyAnn from ThisBlondeShoppingBag has been sharing some outfits on IG that she has been inspired to recreate from Pinterest. As I see these, I have been taking a screenshot to remind me to recreate them myself. Earlier this month, the following outfit really appealed to me so I went through my closet to find what I had that was similar. I knew my pants were very similar to hers which is why the outfit caught my eye. Mine are from Target a year or two ago, and this year I used fabric glue to create a hem as they were really long on me. I only have one pair of…

    Hamilton Gardens in Hiawassee, GA

Hiawassee is just 15 minutes or so from Hayesville, GA and home to a beautiful lake, Lake Chatuge. We first caught a glimpse of the lake on our way to Hamilton Gardens. The gardens are free except during the Rhododendron festival which had actually just ended a couple weeks before our visit. Sadly, most of the blooms were gone but the views were still beautiful and we did find a few bushes with colorful blooms. The garden has several trails that loop and we made sure to follow one that went all of the way down to the lake. On the way, we stopped to admire the sights and relax.…

How to Dress up a Skort

The last time I shared this skort on the blog, I wore it casually for a hiking outing with a tee and sneakers. Today, I am sharing a few tips on how to dress it up and these ideas can be applied to a variety of casual pieces. I only have one skort and I keep it folded along with my burmuda short and my camo mini skirt. One way to get more wear out of your clothes is to organize them in a matter that makes sense to you so you do not forget what you have. All of my clothes (minus my pajamas, undergarments and workout clothes) are…

Fire Creek Falls and Recreation Area

Our Airbnb host had emailed me a list of activities nearby before our trip and this spot caught my eye as she said we could tube down a natural water slide. In anticipation of this possibility, I had packed some river tubes we had, as well as our pump which could be plugged in the car to inflate the tubes quickly and effortlessly. We also packed water shoes for everyone. Fire Creek Falls was about 20 minutes from our rental and we enjoyed it so much the first time, we returned for a second afternoon of fun. To get a decent view of the falls, you must cross the river…

    Hayesville, North Carolina

I had never heard of Hayesville, NC until I booked our rental, but the area turned out to be a delightful area to spend a week in summer. The weather was pleasant, nature was just beautiful (that combination of mountains, trees and fields is gorgeous) and there was lots to do. Today I am sharing the tiny town of Hayesville and a few pictures of our cabin and surroundings. Hayesville is a small town with a population of about 450 and is about 20 min from Hiawassee, GA and Murphy, NC. While waiting for our pizza to be ready that first evening, we walked around the square and admired the…

    Vacation Outfits: Casual and Simple

I did not wear everything I packed for our trip to North Carolina (mainly one dress and a sweatshirt), but otherwise I was pleased with my choice of clothing. I tend to pack more when we travel by car than by plane as we have more space. This trip involved a lot of leisure time as well as outdoor time. We typically did not leave the cabin till 11 or noon so I was really glad I had packed some cozy things. Cozy Evenings I had been wanting a star sweater for a while and found this one on Ebay. It was new with tags and before purchasing it, I…

Inspired by a Movie Character with the Ageless Style Link Up

When Bo chose this theme, I searched the internet for different ideas. At first, I thought of coastal chic and Diane Keaton but then I came across this picture of Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing and decided it would be an easy outfit to replicate from my closet. This outfit uses basics most of us have in our closets, white sneakers, belt, denim shorts and tank tops so anyone can create it. Of course, short length might change as well as the style of tank top. I knew I could take the pictures on a nearby bridge, so as soon as I got back from vacation, we went out to…

    Another Zoo Outing

We took advantage of our zoo membership for a visit a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to share some of the animals I haven’t shared before. I bought a family+1 membership when we visited with my brother as the line was incredibly long for people without membership (never go to ZooAtlanta during spring break!), so on this past visit, I invited my 2 nieces to tag along. The prices have really increased at the zoo, so a membership is definitely the way to go! I’ve actually shared this elephant before but he greeted us with doing his business when we arrived. I tell you, the smell was pretty…

5 Ways to Wear a Pair of Printed Asymetrical Pants

After realizing I was always wearing these thrifted navy asymetrical pants the same way (with white or navy on top), I decided to think a little more outside the box and share my ideas with you. While I still shop, I really like to get the most out of my clothes and coming up with different combinations entices me to wear certain pieces more often. Of course, you can apply these ideas to any fun printed pants or skirt. With a Bright Color Jodie (Jtouchfostyle) suggested yellow which I know I will pair with it soon (I’ve done yellow a lot with my two navy jumpsuits) which made me think…
