Savoy Car Museum
A few weeks ago, we decided to visit a new car museum that opened in the area as it was a cold Saturday afternoon. The Savoy Car Museum opened in December and displays an assortment of automobiles and works of art. It is located between Chattanooga and Atlanta just of off I75 in Cartersville. According to the website, the exhibits will change which I think is a great idea since these focused on a few eras and we were disappointed not to see some other time periods. This rusted 1954 Plymouth Savoy was discovered on the grounds during construction. The current exhibits include American Racing, the Great American Classics, Woodies…

Winter Coats in the Southern States
Living in the state of Georgia which is by all means a southern state in the United States that does not get snow every year, do I need a warm winter coat? My answer to that question is yes but do I need two? Probably not but with a gift card in hand and some free time on my hands, I found myself purchasing a second winter coat. According to google coats are heavier and longer in length than jackets. I consider most of my outerwear as jackets but my red peacoat a coat as well as these two down winter coats. Here is my peacoat coat that I have…

A Few New Organizing Updates at Home
This year, I am focusing on making small changes at home to make some little improvements to toy organization as well as closet organization. I want to streamline a few things, reduce the clutter and the number of things we have laying around the house. I started as soon as the year started and I am sure we continue to declutter throughout the year as we can always do with less. The boys had 3 tubs under their bunkbeds with legos and really didn’t play with the legos unless those tubs were out. I had the boys help me greatly reduced the number of legos we kept and we sold…

Periwinkle with the Ageless Style Link UP
I enjoyed putting this outfit together as there were so many shades of periwinkle to choose from. The color is derived from violet and blue and while the new Pantone color of the year Very Peri might be a little more infused with color the shade of purple in my outfit fits quite well in the tones of periwinkle as can be found by googling the color. This is the Veri Peri color: I do have one purple top that I guess would be very close in shade but is a summer top and I did not want to buy anything new for our theme. I am curious…

Inspired by Jodie to Style my Yellow Plaid Cardigan 3 ways
A few months ago, Jodie (Jtouchofstyle) shared a yellow plaid cardigan from BelongUSAstyle that she paired with her camo pants. In her post, she shares 5 ways to style those pants but the yellow plaid cardigan really stuck in my mind. When it went on sale during the Christmas season I decided to order it in hopes that I would enjoy it as much as she did. I knew I could pair it with my camo jeans but that it probably would pair with many other things in my closet. With our mild winters (most of the time), I can wear it 3 season out of the year! Here is…

#7 day Skirt Challenge with Gail of Is this Mutton
Last time Gail (see her recap post here) suggested a 7 day skirt challenge it was during fall so I was happy to jump on the opportunity of challenging myself to wear skirts in winter for 7 days. I always wear a skirt or a dress at church and there were 3 church days during that 7 day stretch so I only had to push myself a little more to come up with some other outfits. It was great to winterize my skirts and to be creative. One of the things I discovered is that I really love skirts with boots. I do not think I have worn this hand…

Grandfather Mountain, NC
The week after Christmas we took a short vacation in North Carolina and per usual planned some outdoor adventures. First on the agenda was snow tubing which was really fun despite the warm winter and it not being natural snow. Next was a hike at Linville Gorge (see post here). On our 2nd day we visited Grandfather Mountain. All of these places were chosen from my internet search for things to do near Morganton, NC where we had booked our hotel. The day was windy and a little windy but not especially too cold. After being unprepared for one hike in the fall. I now keep extra windbreakers and hats…

Winter Whites, Winter Lights: January Sunday Showcase
It always is a little frustrating when you have an outfit in mind for a post and when you try it on, it really doesn’t look like you expected. This is what happened for this post. I have different white pants that I have worn in winter but was trying to create an outfit in the cream family so I thought my cream camo pants would be fun. However, when I tried on my outfit, the proportions just didn’t work. The cream combat boots looked weird, the sweater was too long, it just didn’t look very cute. I was also in a little time crunch for pictures as we…

Disc Golf and Planning Birthday Parties
December and January are hard months on the wallet in our family. After Nativity (Christmas) come two birthdays, 10 days apart. On the 3rd day of our vacation, our planned activity inspired me for birthday party themes for my soon to be 8 and 11 year olds. While in Morganton, NC, we came across a great park by the river with a fun and large playground as well as a full size disc golf park. We came across a wonderful park near the river with a great playground as well as a 18 hole disc golf park. My soon to be 11 year old loves disc golf which he learned…

Linville Gorge and Falls, NC
We took a short vacation after Christmas in search of snow. Well, snow we did not find however we did enjoy a half day of snow tube in North Carolina on some fake snow! We booked our couple hours of fun at Jonas Ridge Snow tubing and had a ball. Since it was a warm week, I knew it would be pleasant to hike to I looked up a few places near where we were staying (Morganton, NC) so we could enjoy the outdoors. It was fairly busy everywhere we went as others had the same idea but we were still able to enjoy our surroundings and fresh air. Linville…
