Kimono outfits for Spring
One of the purposes of my blog is to show you that fashion can be fun and affordable and that you do not need an overflowing closet to dress in a cute and relevant manner. This year, I am trying to buy with a purpose and to think through my purchases. One of the things I wanted to add to my closet was one or 2 kimonos and I found one half off on Amazon last month in a burgundy color. I probably will look for a teal one at some point in April but I wanted to show how just one kimono and one pair of pants can create…

1 year blogversary, part 3
While I have not tried to monetize my blog yet focusing instead on building a readership through linking my post to other bloggers link ups and through keeping active on Instagram as well as commenting regularly on posts. Little by little, my number of followers on Instagram have increased and I have been following a number of fashion bloggers, minimalist and budget accounts. Through these activities I have participated in different giveaways and have learned a number of prizes. I thought it would be fun to share them today. Caslon cocoon cardigan This is is the first thing I have ever won and was a nice surprise. I entered a…

1 year blogversary, part 2
One of my favorite part of blogging is sharing our trips and some of the tips that help make traveling with children easier. Some of our trips have been abroad but I also enjoy sharing our roadtrips and small vacations nearby. Of course, my top traveling post is one from our trip last summer to Spain and France. I had a hard time traveling which was my favorite as this was a really fun trip with many opportunities for beautiful pictures. Saving for traveling is one of my big priorities and while plane tickets were not affordable this year, I am not too disappointed since we had traveled abroad 3…

1 year blogversary, Part 1
When I started blogging, I wasn’t sure whether I would make it to the 1 year mark. Would I have enough inspiration to write that long? Would I get bored or distracted from blogging? Would I still enjoy it? As I renewed my blog host for 3 years, I realized that yes, blogging is something that I love. Will I ever try to monetize my blog? I am not sure. Right now I am enjoying writing, making connections with other bloggers and sharing my ideas with others. Being a stay at home mom with 3 of my 4 boys in school., blogging gives me a purpose during the day in…

February favorites
This month my favorites are different as in they are not purchases. I did buy a few new skirts from Shein, a pair of leggings from Go 2 (which I will review and compare with my Zella leggings next month) but my favorites are moments and things I made! Homemade yogurt After at least a year of not making yogurts, I am back at it. My 9 year old kept asking when I would be making some yogurt and while the boys do love the whole milk vanilla 32 oz yogurt tubs from Kroger, we do go through them fairly quickly. If you have a favorite yogurt recipe, please share.…

Tennessee Aquarium
The main activity on our Chattanooga trip was visiting the Tennessee aquarium. We had not been in at least 10 years but my oldest had been on a field trip in 5th grade and all of the boys have been asking to go for the past year. The year membership for a family is $175 and we went ahead and purchased it since it was only $26 than the cost of admission for our family, I wore a comfortable outfit since I knew we would be on our feet all day. It was a beautiful day outdoors and I wish that I didn’t have to carry everyone’s layers once we…

Leather jacket, 4 ways
While this jacket is faux leather, it is well made and I do not feel the need to add a real leather jacket to my closet. I have another faux leather jacket in the blush family which is more of a moto jacket. I did use to have a nice brown real leather jacket that was lined but after many years, I finally donated it. It was getting too tight for me. I really love having a colored “leather” jacket because it adds interest to any outfit. Even better, this is the jacket my sister in law gave me so I didn’t have to spendĀ a dime on it. The…

Budget recap: Chattanooga, TN mini vacay
I pride myself on usually being thrifty and staying on budget. Vacations are a little different as in I still have a budget but we do not get anxious about each dollar spent so I planned the budget for our 2 days in Chattanooga accordingly. My budget for this mini vacation was $600 which seems high for just 2 days but our family of 6 was going to eat out and visit the aquarium. Free fun and small savings Here are a few ways we saved money: we ate our free hotel breakfast which was pretty nice since it was a Hilton Garden Inn we got our parking for free…

Westin Sundial Restaurant in Atlanta
On Monday, I shared a special date night outfit for a night out in Atlanta. Today I wanted to share a little about our experience at the Westin Sundial Restaurant. Because we live a little north of Atlanta, anything downtown takes us between 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. The restaurant is on the 73rd floor of the hotel and has beautiful views of the city. We were to meet my husband’s uncle and his girlfriend and knowing that they were not far away, we asked to be seated. The young hostesses refused to seat us even though we had reservations because our full party was not there.…

Date night outfit
Last week, my husband’s uncle took us out to the Westin Sundial restaurant in downtown Atlanta. I will spend a little time sharing about our experience there in Wedsnesday’s post but today, I wanted to share about my outfit. The pictures were mostly taken at my house so the background is not very pretty but I wanted to share how you can shop your closet to create a fun date night look. I actually have not been doing so well with trying to be careful with my spending lately. While I am sticking to my list (I wanted to add skirts to my closet and that is what I purchased…
