1 year blogversary, Part 1

When I started blogging, I wasn’t sure whether I would make it to the 1 year mark. Would I have enough inspiration to write that long? Would I get bored or distracted from blogging? Would I still enjoy it? As I renewed my blog host for 3 years, I realized that yes, blogging is something that I love. Will I ever try to monetize my blog? I am not sure. Right now I am enjoying writing, making connections with other bloggers and sharing my ideas with others. Being a stay at home mom with 3 of my 4 boys in school., blogging gives me a purpose during the day in between chores and fun. I have won several giveaways through other bloggers posts and instagram challenges and will be sharing all of those goodies this Friday. I tend to be lazy and will only enter something if there are not too many requirements. Just writing, commenting on instagram posts and going through bloggers stories takes time. Posting on my blog’s Facebook has totally taken the back seat for the past few months, I just don’t have the time.

Today, I wanted to share my 3 favorite fashion posts I wrote. Not surprisingly, 2 out of 3 are inspired by other bloggers’ posts. I love getting ideas from others especially if I only have to shop my closet to recreate a look. On Wednesday I will share my 3 favorite travel posts which of course are related to traveling abroad. Sadly not trips abroad for us this year since the plane tickets prices never went down but I am sure we will something happen next year.

My favorite fashion post

This is probably my favorite outfit of all times. It was inspired by an outfit from Karen from Lady in Violet who used the color combination.

The post is entitled Sunshine and Pink Lemonade and I love that the outfit is practical for summers here. The blouse was a find in a market in the south of France and is my favorite piece in my closet partly for sentimental reasons. The sandals I have in two colors, cognac and black and are comfortable as well as very versatile. I took the pictures in our little town and really hope to get back to trying to get my pictures in places more picturesque than the front and sides of my house.

Favorite # 2

The skirt depicted in this post is among is my favorite finds thrifting last year. I cannot wait to wear it again more regularly as spring arrives.I first introduced it in a blog post dedicated to visiting the botanical gardens in Birmingham, Alabama. The scenic nature of the location made for some pretty pictures!

I love that I still love all of the items that I am wearing in this outfit and that I still have them all. The sandals were surprisingly comfortable even though we walked a lot.

Guess I need to plan some cute oufits in some cute locations. See the recurring theme here? I like pretty locations!

Favorite post # 3

I couldn’t have a post about my favorite fashion post without featuring my favorite skirt of all times. One skirt, 5 ways features that floral Modcloth skirt. One of the oufits, I actually never wore nor will wear in real life (with the denim vest) but I did wear the others plus more in this post featuring the same skirt again.

I just love this skirt! I always get so many complements when I wear it and I do love that twirl factor!

I think that having more does not necessarily mean having a better closet. As I am writing this, I am thinking of a few skirts in my closet that might not make it past the summer if I do not reach for them. I definitely have had fun putting together outfits this past year and by posting my daily outfits on instagram has made me realize that I can do a lot with what I have.

Thanks for visiting my blog, for your comments and for following me on instagram. I wouldn’t have enjoyed this journey as much without all of your support and friendship! Come back on Wednesday for my favorite 3 travel posts!

A bientôt!

Yay, congrats on your 1 year blogiversary! I’m always so impressed by how much you’ve accomplished (mostly, how many blogging friends you’ve made) in such a short amount of time. I love your three favorite outfits a ton and I remember commenting on the pink lemonade one on Instagram when you first posted it. Such a fun color combo! And that twirly floral skirt is so pretty, especially with the striped top – very chic. Hope you have a great Monday!

Congrats on your blog birthday 🙂 Aww, I started my blog when my kids were at school too. I love blogging and I can not believe it has been 9 years now since I wrote my first post. 2 of my 4 children have left school and uni now. So much has changed since I started blogging. Still love blogging though. Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays 🙂

Happy one-year blogversary, Mireille! It goes fast, doesn’t it? My blog is 3 1/2 years old and I constantly think about stopping as it just doesn’t grow, but it’s such a fun outlet, isn’t it? Like you, I love the inspiration and the great ladies we meet. Love that floral skirt, and of course, the yellow top!

    xx Darlene

    • mimifce

Yes, I really have fun doing it and my favorite is all the comments and connections with other ladies on the blog and through Instagram.

  • Chrissy Rowden

Congratulations on your one year bloggiversary. 😉 I’m so glad you’re here on this space. As a fellow mom of boys I understand the fun outlet this can be! And your three outfit favorites are FABULOUS. I remember two of them from my own reading, especially the stripe and floral combo. So pretty! Here’s to another year in blogging!

    • mimifce

Thanks, Chrissy! I hope we get to meet up some day, too bad you moved to Florida, lol, but Sarasota seems like a great place to be. I always enjoy reading anything to do with the boys since you are ahead of the game with your older ones. Today, we are registering for high school classes for my oldest!

  • Kristina

Happy One Year blogging! Have you ever worn the yellow top with the floral skirt, or would that be too much? Both of them look so feminine and flattering on you.

    • mimifce

Never tried that, I think for me, it would be too much yellow. They are my favorite pieces though.

  • Gail

Congrats on the blogversary Mireille. Three great outfits, I love all of them particularly the floral skirt in #3. Thanks for supporting #WowOnWednesday!

    • mimifce

I have to force myself to not wear that skirt too often: it is so pretty! Equal opportunity closet, lol!

That top does make me happy! Need to pair of white shorts to pair with it this year and need to figure out some skirts to go with it too.

  • Bojana

Happy blogversary! it’s been a pleasure to find you over the web and get a glimpse at your life and style. The time you speak of, or lack of it, is a real struggle so deciding what it is you hope to feel and accomplish through the blog always helps me refocus and stay out of any competition game. Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

    • mimifce

Sometimes it makes one feel small to see the success of others but I feel like I have reached a few more people than I expected with my blog so I am content. I hope to continue to grow, sometimes it is hard to come up with content but I has been a really fun journey. I have enjoyed reading your posts too. What would we do without the internet =)

  • Michelle

Yay! Congrats! I enjoy your posts, so I’m glad you’re in for the long haul. These three outfits are lovely! The paisley skirt is fabulous. I’ve never met a paisley I didn’t like.

I admire those who make a living from their blogs, but for me this is hobby. I briefly tried monetizing my blog, but it took the fun out of it. So I dumped it. I blog to interact with other bloggers. (Socializing for an introvert!) I’ve learned a lot from the fashion bloggers, and those who share my jewelry-making hobby.

Again, congrats on your 1 yr blogversary!

Yes! I hope to some day meet some of the different people I have interacted with. So far I have met one. Such a great community of nice and fun women!

  • Mica

Congrats on your blogaversary! I really enjoy blogging for a little “me-time” too! It’s nice to have something fun and frivolous and girly after playing with the kids all day 🙂

Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂 Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp 🙂 I just posted this week’s linkup, if you want to join again.

Congratulations Mirielle on your Blog Anniversary!
I know it does take alot to be a fashion blogger, and I didnt think I would go this long either. I do enjoy writing and love clothes, so it is a win win. I like you, enjoy meeting people, wonderful ladies met through blogging, and it is a nice escape. Love the outfits you posted. Those tan sandals are pretty!! I think the main thing is having a closet you love, no matter how big or small. The yellow top just screams Spring!
    thanks for linking!

I agree on all points! I have really learned some lessons on what not to buy this past year and what I actually like and will wear. I have loved meeting so many of you through the internet. And hopefully some of you in real life one day. I do enjoy writing about different things so having the blog be a fashion as well as a travel blog has helped me branch out.

  • Shelbee on the Edge

Mireille, a huge congratulations on your one year anniversary! I feel like I have known you longer than that though! Haha. I always love your fun outfit combinations and that you are able to create them mostly from shopping your closet! I am so happy that you renewed your domain for 3 years! We don’t ever run out of things to say, do we?!
