To Keep or not to Keep: the Saga of a Sequin Skirt
Last month, Jodie shared an Old Navy sale for a sequin skirt in her newsletter. While I am loving textured sweaters, pants and skirts, I really hadn’t been on the lookout for a sequin skirt. However, I was instantly intrigued and interested. The skirt came in 3 colors (cream, silver and light green) and was less than $30. After debating about it, I ordered it and it arrived surprisingly fast. My first impression was that I wasn’t sure about the sequins: they were clear over the shimmery cream sparkling skirt and I felt they looked a little cheap. I did like how the skirt swished when it moved and decided…

Leopard and Blazer: An Outfit Inspired all the Way from France
I started following several French ladies on IG a couple months ago and their style is right up my alley. Anne’s outfit actually inspired two outfits this month for the blog (here is her IG @manou67life). I love how she mixes different textures and styles to create interesting combinations. Today’s outfit is loosely based on an outfit she wore with leopard pants and a blazer. For my outfit, I wore a leopard skirt and wore my belt below my blazer. I probably could have chosen my darker print leopard skirt and chosen another belt to create a closer outfit to this one, but I wanted to put my twist on…

Trendy Scarf Belt Outfits: Shop your Closet
I don’t jump on the trend train by purchasing some new items, but I sometimes like to play with a trendy idea by shopping my closet. I ended up making my shopping break last about 40 days. It was not easy as there were weeks I was tempted to go thrifting. I don’t especially think this scarf belt trend is that great, but I have a number of thrifted scarf that I wanted to wear, so I went to Pinterest to get a few outfit ideas and I surprised myself by really liking these outfits. Scarf Belt with a Dress I created a simple combination with a plain dress: instead…

Which Colors to Pair with Brown
For our last Ageless Style Link Up, Bo shared different color combinations to wear with brown in her blog post. While I have worn brown before, it is not a color that I have much of, nor do I wear it often. I decided to use her post as a jumpstart on creating some brown and color outfits from my closet. She wore brown with red, with blue, light pink, leopard and purple. I chose 2 thrifted pieces from my closet as my brown items: a blazer and a faux leather skirt. Most of the ways I have worn brown before was with neutrals such as white, cream or black,…

Skirt as a Dress, Western Edition
I love getting more wear out of my closet and one fun way to transform your maxi skirts is to wear them as a dress. This works best if your maxi has an elastic waistband. You do not have to belt your maxi, however each time I have worn mine as a dress, I have added a belt to define the waist. Since I took these pictures at the end of September, it was still warm, so while I wanted to wear my boots, I settled on wearing my sandals to church. I am still sharing both outfits. Skirt with Boots I love my boots and my husband has hinted…

Make it Denim, but not Jeans
When I aim to shop my closet and not shop, I love to give myself a theme for getting dressed in the week and I also strive to wear my clothes in new combinations. All of these outfits, but the one with the star tee were new combos and it really did feel like I was shopping my closet. My goal was to wear denim pieces that were appropriate for early fall weather (cool in morning, still hot in the afternoons), and change up my color palette a little. I also wanted to hold off on wearing jeans till it cooled off, but wanted to make sure to wear my…

More Tulle Skirt Inspiration: Early Fall
Tulle for everyday? Yes, please! I think I started wearing tulle skirts after seeing my friends Jodie and Cathie style them and trying one on. I was smitten and they have become one of my favorite types of skirts. The week of my 50th birthday, I decided it would be fun to wear one of my tulle skirts every day. I always feel a little bit like a fairy when I wear one of these skirts. I like to style them with sneakers for every day and try new combinations to make them either more casual or more dressy. I put away this floral purse the week after I wore…

Maxi, Midi or Mini: Talking Skirt Lengths with the Ageless Style Link Up
Do you have a favorite skirt length? A maxi typically is a full length skirt which reaches your ankles, a midi skirt falls between the knee and the ankle (often at mid-calf) and a mini ends above your knee. Most of my skirts are maxis as I find them easier to move in and I love how they move when I walk. I have just a few midi skirts as I sometimes find it difficult to style (I have a hard time choosing shoes) and I typically wear my shorter skirts for date night if they are higher than above the knee. Today, however, I am sharing one of my…

How to Thrift with a Purpose: Striped Grey Pants for the Win
If you have been reading my blog for a while or if you follow me on Instagram, by now you have realized that I enjoy thrifting and that I do find some great pieces for great prices. I wrote a post a couple years ago with some tips to thrift successfully (here) and if you search my website and search for thrifted/thrifting, you will find that many of my outfits feature a thrifted piece. I wanted to add a couple points to that post from a couple of years ago, so today, I am sharing how I have been thrifting this past year. Today’s outfit is an outfit I wore…

Thrifted Overalls: 2 Ways
Do you own a pair of overalls? I thrifted this pair in Arizona this summer and a pair of shorts overalls at home and have been wanting to style these. Because it is still a little warm for thick more fitted jeans, I haven’t worn these yet apart for these pictures and my flight back from Arizona (with a tank). I decided to share 2 fall looks, one dressier and the other more casual. Dressy Denim Overall While these are not exactly the style I have been looking for (I would rather them be wide leg and a lighter denim), until I find the perfect pair, this pair will work!…
