Open Knit Sweater 3 Ways: October Sunday Showcase
I always struggle when shopping retail: am I contributing to the fast fashion industry with my buying habits and my love of shopping? I really have tried to thrift more this year and to give myself some shopping breaks to shop my closet, but I still have shopped retail here and there. There are a few places I do not shop for clothes, the 2 top ones being TEMU (those prices sure are coming at the detriment of someone) and SheIn. Yes, I still purchase from Target, Old Navy and other places but I really have been trying to limit those excursions. Today, I am sharing a sweater I bought…

Maxi Dress as Kimono
Sometimes you purchase something and it is not exactly what you expect: I often forget to read the details about the fabric and while this dress’ shape and color looks exactly like the picture online, it is not the material I had hoped. It fits buttoned up but feels kind of stiff and I decided that I might like it better as a kimono. I have several ideas on how to wear it, but this was the first that came to mind (I also think that it would look great over a column of white. In early fall, when it is a little too early for booties, I pull out…

Inspired by Jacqui at Mummabstylish
When I first started blogging 4 years ago, I used to find it difficult to come up with weekly fashion posts but this past year, I have been very inspired! I have been writing posts in advance as I come up with ideas for outfits shopping my closet, wearing a new piece or being inspired to put an outfit together after seeing a fun outfit on someone. I’ve also been gifted pieces this year and have typically shared those items on the blog too. Last month, I shared an outfit inspired by Cammi (read here) and today, my inspiration came all the way from the UK when Jacqui shared an…

Happy Birthday to me with a Early Fall Look
I’ve really enjoyed my birthdays this past decade. I have let go of expectations, embraced my age and figured out how to make the day special. Last year, I went up to Chattanooga to visit my friend Rachel to thrift and baked myself a cake. Today, I may thrift on my own, have a free birthday lunch and relax. I am sharing a thrifted dress I picked up last month at Uptown Cheapskate when I received a 20% off coupon and how I wore it. This look can work all summer long through fall until bare legs are not comfortable. I am not usually one for smocking but the smocking…

How to Change the Look of a Tie Dress
I definitely did not stick to my no shop summer this summer, but I was very intentional with the choices I made when I did purchase some clothes. I do not remember why I was in Target on this particular day (I did not enter Target for 40 days or so though), but glanced at the clearance rack. When I noticed the pretty neutral print of this dress, I knew I wanted to try it on. While in the fitting room, I quickly realized that I would be able to create a different waistline depending on how I tied the belt it came with (it actually can be taken off…

Camo and Turquoise Outfit
Last month, I receive several items for my collaboration with ShopLcTv. One of pieces I chose was this pair of turquoise earrings. Just a few weeks before, at Christmas, my mom gifted me my grandmother’s silver and turquoise necklace. My grandparents had lived in Arizona and California and my grandmother had several Native American pieces. I actually had never seen this necklace. I’ve been wanting to wear both of these pieces together since I received them so this day was the day. I wore a camo tunic and camo wedge sneakers, turquoise and white. While turquoise doesn’t stand out as much against the camo pattern, I really like the combination.…

Stripes and Layers
Stripes are here to stay and they sure add interest to outfits. Today, I am sharing ways to layer them in the cooler months. Of course, you can wear them on their own as in the first outfit but they are perfect with all kinds of toppers. I am not sure I have a favorite way. The two tops I wore in these outfits are old. One has 3/4 sleeves while the other is longer at the bottom and at the sleeves. I also have striped tops for summer too. Standalone I like this particular top because it is a little thicker than my cotton one. The button detail and…

Wearing Dresses for Everyday- Fall/Winter Edition
I typically wear dresses in the spring and summer with denim jackets are on their own. However my closet has a number of dresses appropriate for cooler weather. Should I just wear them on Sundays? I decided to take some of them out of a spin in my daily routines and realized how comfortable and appropriate they are for any given day. Today I am sharing a variety of dresses as well as sharing Jodie (Jtouchofstyle.com) who often inspires me to think creatively with my wardrobe. I by no means am a minimalist when it comes to clothes but I do try to make sure that if something comes in…

Styling Skinny Jeans with the Ageless Style Link Up
Jodie chose the prompt skinny jeans this month! While I now wearing a much wider variety of jean styles than I used to, I still really enjoy styling my skinny jeans. I like them with knee high boots and to show off shoes as I did in today’s outfit! I can see this look for a semi casual holiday gathering where you will be indoors. I am starting this post with the shoe because I really love this picture and these pretty heels from Target have a sentimental value for me since I wore them at my brother’s wedding and I felt really special in them. I do not wear…

Coastal Chic at the Beach in the Fall
I really liked all of the clothes and outfits I created for our beach trip (see my beach outfit recap post here) but thought that my Target linen pants deserved a post of their own. I originally picked these in white this summer but they were see through so I exchanged them for tan. I am so glad I did since I have many white pants but not tan ones. I wore these as a cover up (first 3 pictures) and then as an outfit. Tan Pants as a Cover Up I typically do not like to walk around in just my bathing so a pair of pull on wide…
