Inspired by Last Seen Wearing: Shopping my closet

Any time I see someone wearing something cute there is that pull of “oh that is so cute, maybe I should get it”. There is also that smart voice in my head saying that I do not need anything else. I shopped well this year and am ready for fall and winter! As we enter fall and approach the end of the year, that means several things for us as far as where money will be spent: a couple of vacations, birthdays, anniversary and also Christmas. Do I need anything in my closet at this point? NO! So my goal is to find inspiration from others and also from myself…

Happy Birthday to Me! Shopping other’s closets!

Happy 45th birthday to me! For my birthday this year, I decided to shop some fellow bloggers’ closets/shops for my last shopping hurrah and birthday presents to myself (this was in August). I decided to choose things a little outside of my comfort zone and fill in a couple empty spots in my closet. I first stopped by Michelle’s My Bijou Life’s etsy shop. I chose a purple and silver necklace large statement necklace. I also bought 3 tops from Andrea’s (of Living on Cloud Nine) Instagram closet sale. The tops were peplum style which I had never tried and the one featured today is a pretty Free People boho…

Transitioning a Summer Dress for Fall: Thursday Moda with Ada

Thanks again to Ada for asking me to join her with her Thursday Moda Link up! Today we are sharing how we would transition a summer dress for fall! Being able to wear your clothes for more than one season of the year gives you more bang for your buck and gives you opportunities to be creative with your clothes . One simple way to do that is to change accessories and add layers. Today I am sharing two dresses and how I would wear them in the fall. Now we took these pictures on a nice humid and hot afternoon (it was in the 90s) so excuse my hair!…

September Sunday Showcase: Shopping my Closet for Labor Day Outfits

Every year, on the first Monday of September we celebrate Labor Day. The day celebrates the social and economic achievements of American workers. As on other holidays celebrating our country, its history and its people I like to wear patriotic colors without being overly obvious about it. For this day, as I am attempting to refrain from shopping for the rest the year, I shopped my closet and came up with two outfits. I like to have different options, one a little dressier than the other. Don’t forget to stop by Ada’s blog to see more of her outfits. Shorts and Graphic Tee First of all, I had my first…

    August Favorite Outfits (Part 2)

Welcome back to Mireille’s August outfits! Today’s looks center around shorts and more dresses and skirts! Shorts Finding the perfect layering button up was easier than expected: a quick excursion to TJMaxx delivered! I love the material and the fit! Grocery shopping day: hands free backpack purse and simple outfit. Laid back look for a laid back Sunday afternoon: we flew our kites in our backyard and enjoyed our pergola. Poshmark fun find in the blouse: I tried to add some variety in my blouses and tops this year. Bringing fall a little with fallish colors and leopard! I probably will be wearing sandals for another month or so but…

    August Favorite Outfits (part 1)

Another month of winning outfits in my book! There were a couple looks I did not include because I did not like them and did end up donating one of those items worn. While I am not sharing any links this week, I have a reason behind that. As I gear myself for several months of hopefully no clothes shopping, I want to encourage others to shop their closets as I will shop mine or to make a list of the types of items you need for your closet. I am always tempted on Instagram or with my daily blog reading but I actually do have quite a nice fall/winter…

Inspired by Andrea at Living on Cloud Nine

I am not sure how long I have followed Andrea’s blog regularly but I would say probably a year or two. Since I have been regular on Instagram, I have really enjoyed seeing her in action in her stories and love her bubbly nature. Her style is feminine but also practical and her #walkand talk stories are fun and intereactive with polls about all kinds of subjects! Her fashion sense often inspires me (I have bought a few things after seeing her feature them and I am even shopping her closet for fall:she will be sharing more in her Insta stories next week: so many cute things to grab!). Now…

Gauzy White Button Down: 5 ways

I recently bought this shirt as I wanted to have a layer for sleeveless dresses for church but then realized it was quite versatile. I quickly thought about 5 different ways I could wear it. I found this on the clearance rack at TJMaxx for $12 and I love the cotton gauzy material as well as the loose fit and tie. It is a reminder to not look at size as it is XS but fits me well without being tight at all. Over a Sleeveless Dress I love this Target tiered dress but it is not appropriate for my church with the deep V and sleeveless sleeves. I cuffed…

    Revisiting your Budget

I have written several posts about budgeting over the past year and a half: how to make budgeting work for you why do a budget reset? budget friendly snacks no spend month, how to be successful lower your bills don’t break the bank at Christmas These are a few of them. After the past 6 months of not really trying to be thrifty, I decided it was time to get back to my roots of wanting to share more about budgeting in all areas of my life. Now budgeting in my current situation may look different than it looks last year when our income was different but the principles are…

Outfits for a Vacation in the Mountains

I shared my packing list for our week in North Carolina on a blog post a little while ago (read here) so I decided it would be fun to share my actual outfits. The advantage of going on vacation is that it gives some new and interesting backdrops for outfit pictures. I did forget my running shoes and my dress at home but probably wouldn’t have worn either so it worked out well. The weather started at about 70 degrees in the morning and went up to the mid 80s during the day. Most of our activities involved being in the outdoors. This was my outfit for visiting the Museum…
