Folly Beach and Sullivan Island, SC
I am finally getting to the last of my posts from our trip to South Carolina! I am ending with where we started and ended our trip. There is no better time to enjoy a couple of hours on the beach than after and before a 5 hour or so road trip. While not nearly as pretty as the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico which are our favorite, these two beaches were very pretty and a nice escape from our regular day to day life. Folley Beach There is nothing like putting your feet in the water! I really don’t like swimming in the ocean but enjoy…

Summer Dress over Leggings: Make your Clothes Work for You
Since my friend offered to take pictures for me in the Marietta square last week, I decided to share one last summer look which I think can work with many fall tunics that you feel are too short. This beautiful green dress has rarely seen the light of day because it is a little bit on the short side and with the off the shoulder sleeves not practical for many occasions. I bought this about 3 years ago at Target because I loved the color and embroidery. It has stayed in my closet for the same reason but I only probably wear it twice a year. I wore it for…

March in Review
I usually like to dedicate my Wednesdays post to travel or fun outings we have made as a family but since those are not happening at this time, I thought I would look back at March since there were a few happenings. 1 Year Blogiversary First came my blog 1st year anniversary. I was quite happy that people still continue to read my blog and that I am still having fun writing it. You can read my blogiversary posts here, here and here. 1 year blogversary, part 3
While I have not tried to monetize my blog yet focusing instead on building a readership through linking my post to other bloggers link ups and through keeping active on Instagram as well as commenting regularly on posts. Little by little, my number of followers on Instagram have increased and I have been following a number of fashion bloggers, minimalist and budget accounts. Through these activities I have participated in different giveaways and have learned a number of prizes. I thought it would be fun to share them today. Caslon cocoon cardigan This is is the first thing I have ever won and was a nice surprise. I entered a…

Fort Gaines, Alabama
Across from Fort Morgan, on Dauphin Island is Fort Gaines. We spent half a day on Dauphin Island and decided to visit this fort too in order to compare it to Fort Morgan and also just because we like forts! Construction on Fort Gaines began in 1819. The project was afflicted with problems one of which was its cost and it wasn’t until 1853 that work really started and it was mostly completed by 1861. The fort was different for us visitors in that you could tell what the different areas and rooms had been used for. The museum had many different artifacts and there was also a room that…

Falcons game date night
Thanks to Ed, a friend of my husband, we were able to go on a date night to the Falcons’ football game at the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta. It was a great budget friendly date since all we paid were our parking and a bottle of water walking back to our car. What made this date special is that we typically just go out to dinner for our dates so doing something out of the ordinary for us made our outing very special. Thanks Ed! Neither my husband nor I are big professional football fans but he does know the game and I have watched enough college football games to…

My latest Amazon purchases
I always enjoying seeing what other purchase from Amazon. I sometimes buy what other bloggers have endorsed and sometimes those items work for me but not always. These are my purchases for April and May. Handmade Round Ata Bag (sold by Lmygo): I often see the same items sold by different companies and reviews differ so I usually try to buy the same as the person who blogged about it. Of course it is now out of stock so am linking this similar one (rattan bag) Safety 1st grow and Go 3 in 1 Convertible car seat As I was deciding which carseat to bring with us to France (we…

Favorite spring break memories, linking up to The Queen in Between
Today, I am linking my post to Shelly from The Queen in Between! The theme is spring break memories! Spring break is one of my favorite school breaks. It is a precursor to summer break, the weather has usually warmed up some and the sky if hopefully blue without a cloud. We typically try to incorporate outdoors activities during this break and meet up with the cousins. Whether it is a trip to the zoo, a museum or hiking, we like to get together. Spring break also equals spring and I usually start buying flowers to bring in spring into the house. I am not a green thumb but the…
