    Runner’s Spotlight Part 2: Mark’s Life Lessons

Last week, Mark H. shared his running journey with us and he had a few more words of wisdom to share with us. Here are his life lessons learned from running. Thanks again, Mark for sharing with us! 1. Never say you can’t do something. 2. Never say you never will do something. 3. You might be surprised at how something (or someone) you were never interested in before suddenly becomes very appealing. 4. Learning to be disciplined in one area can overflow into every area of your life. 5. Keep going at a steady pace. 6. Don’t go to fast or try to get ahead of yourself or you…

Lace Halftee and Edgy Oversized Vest: Monochromatic Look

The exercise of creating new outfit for blog posts is great especially with pieces that may depart from your typical look or style. I bought this oversized vest back in April in Arizona and I have only worn it once or twice. I had the idea of creating a monochromatic look so the details of the vest would stand out. I wanted fitted pieces so the vest would be the star of the show and my lace Halftee is a great juxtaposition to the edginess of the vest. I plan to get a black lace Halftee soon, at the time of the writing of this post (mid July), my size…

How to Transition Summer to Fall with the Ageless Style Link Up

How can you transition your outfit from summer to fall without just adding the usual denim or moto jacket? I thought I would show you how to put together a fall outfit using both summer and fall pieces. The fun thing about this outfit is that the key pieces are thrifted: the jeans, the top and the clutch were all thrift finds. Be sure to check all of the Ageless Style ladies outfits too for more inspiration! If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen these jeans a few times since I bought them in April in Arizona. I usually do not try jeans in thrift stores because the…

Another Whimsical Outfit with my Tulle Overlay Dress

When my son and I took these pictures, he mentioned that I looked like the character Lucy Gray from the movie The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. And I have to agree with him: it does make me think of her! I do love how this outfit came together and will be wearing it out and about for a date night! I have worn this tulle overlay several times now and will share some pictures at the end of the post to give you some inspiration. I wanted to wear pants under the tulle instead of a skirt like I had done in the past and I did have to…

    Making Your Birthday Special

Some people don’t care to celebrate their birthday and don’t mind if it passes by without acknowledgment (at least I have heard people say that). I, for one enjoy making the day special, not in a grandiose way, but in a way that makes me feel like it is a special day. A year has passed, I am alive and well and I am looking forward to more years to come. So what are some simple ways I celebrate my birthday? Before anything else, I would say, don’t wait on others to make your day special because some years you will be disappointed! So here are some things I do!…

It’s my Birthday! Red Dress for the Win

This is what 49 looks like! I usually do not post a fashion post on a Wednesday, but since my birthday falls on a Wednesday, I thought I would share an outfit in which I felt quite good! This dress was given to me by one of my running friend Patricia (whose running story I shared here) when she did a little closet decluttering this summer. She has a great sense of style, so I was very happy to receive some of the things she was not planning to wear anymore. I actually took these pictures at the beginning of summer after our trip to Europe as I had lost…

Linen Skirt for Fall 3 Ways

I came across this linen skirt at Cato’s Fashion this summer and tried it in store, but the size medium was too large. However, I liked the possibilities of the skirt so much that I decided to order it online in XS and have it shipped to the store to save shipping fee. I had no idea that it would take a month for me to receive it as the company was changing both carriers and warehouses. I am glad though that I did not cancel the order because I think there are unlimited ways to style this skirt. With a peasant blouse I could have worn this skirt with…

    Summer Favorites

As summer draws to an end, I wanted to share a few summer favorites, some being experiences while others being little tools that I really enjoyed. I like summer to a certain extent, but it is definitely not my favorite season with the heat, humidity, bugs and the children complaining about boredom. But of course there are some fun things associated with summer too! River and Pool Time If it’s hot, the place place to be is the water! We have a river just a few minutes from the house and we sometimes take advantage of it and take a float down to the next boat/river access. I don’t go…

    Runner’s Spotlight: Carrie

Carrie is another of my blogger friends who lives in the St. Louis area. I have been following her blog (Curly Crafty Mom) for a number of years and we both just sent our oldest to college. She has shared some posts about her running so I knew I wanted her to share her running story with us too! 1. How and when did you start running? I started running in 2008 after the birth of my daughter. A few other moms I knew that were looking to lose the baby weight were doing a 500 miles goal in one year and I decided to join them. I started out…
