Fall Field Trip Outfit Shopped from my Closet
Last month, my youngest had a field trip to the farm, the same field trip as the last year. The field was not very exciting: there were a lot of classes, a lot of waiting and it just wasn’t too exciting. It sounded like there was some miscommunication between the school and the original field trip destination so I guess, it will be the same farm field trip 3 years in a row! While we were there, we did enjoy seeing the animals, some play time and I took advantage of the location to have my 5 year old take some blog pictures for me. I was excited for the…

Costa Rica: the Animal Life
One of the main reason I wanted to take the boys on a trip to Costa Rica was because of the wonderful wildlife. We knew from staying in Tulemar Resort last year, that there would be opportunity to see animals on the property and in the trees and from the ride there, that there would be animals to see from the road too. We’ve always enjoyed visiting zoo but seeing animals free, in the wild in their own environment is just amazing. On the way south to Quepos and the Manuel Antonio National Park (where these pictures are from), we saw some crocodiles, many macaws and hermit crabs. On the…

Costa Rica: the Pools
One of our favorite ways to relax on this past vacation to Costa Rica was to take advantage of the beautiful pools where we stayed. Our favorite by far was the family pool at Tulemar Resort and we spent at least 2 to 3 hours daily enjoying it the two full days we spent there. Tulemar Resort The resort boasts 4 pools including a pretty infinity pool by the restaurant (it was being worked on while we were there), a jungle pool (hubby and I used that one last year as it was by our room), a family and an adult pool. We did not use the adult pool, but…

Travel Outfits: Costa Rica Fall Break
We spent a week in Costa Rica for fall break with our kids in tow. My husband and I enjoyed our 20th anniversary trip so much last year that we decided to take the children to visit this beautiful country and we loved it! I will be sharing the food we ate, our excursions and more over the next few weeks. You can read my post about the food in this post from Friday. I packed about 3 weeks before the trip and while I did not shop for the past 5 weeks, I had bought a few tees before my birthday that I “saved” for the trip. My idea…

Our food in Costa Rica: 2023 Fall Break
Yum! The food was delicious in Costa Rica, and we ate very well as you will see from the pictures I took. Even though I paid cash for the food at the local sodas (small restaurants) and we went grocery shopping for several meals, the food at the resorts added up quickly for a family of 6 (that will show up on our credit card bill). Our favorite was the food from the sodas and we made sure to pick ones that local people went to and they did not disappoint. The Sodas The natural fruit juices were wonderful. I think we had about 5 different kinds and here are…

What to Wear to a Birthday Party with the Ageless Style.
October is Marsha’s birthday month thereby her choice of a theme for our post today. I started to think about the last time I went to an adult’s birthday party and I really couldn’t remember. The last real birthday party was my own for my 40th (years ago) and the 50th party breakfast we threw for our running friend a few weeks ago, but we all wore our running clothes for that. I think your attire depends on your personality and the occasion. I like to dress up any chance I get, so for this post I chose a fun dress that is both colorful and appropriate for any occasion.…

Skirts for Fall
While there are certain skirts I put away in the spring and in the fall, there are a number of them that hang in my closet year round. Today, I am sharing an example of how I transition some of these skirts for fall. In a nutshell, layers are your friend as well as shoewear. They make all of the difference! Denim Jackets Here is an example of how a denim jacket makes an outfit appropriate for fall. While I chose 2 colored denim jackets here, you could use a regular denim jacket. The material of the skirt (which is a little heavier) makes it appropriate for fall as well…

Another Traveling Ouftit
I was all set to wear the outfit featured in this post on the flight for our upcoming trip, but when I received this skirt from Halftee (I received a birthday gift from them and ordered this and a light sweatshirt), I changed my mind: it will be more practical for bathroom breaks and will give me a skirt option on the trip. This everyday skirt is so comfortable and stretchy and the color is so fun! I paired it with the sandals and tank I was planning to wear with the jumpsuit and added a hand me down Lacoste long sleeve hoodie for warmth on the plane (tied around…

Countryside Bike Ride
Last Wednesday, I joined two of my running friends for a bike ride through the countryside about 30 minutes from my house. I’ve always liked to bike having learned to ride in our little village in France. We usually rent bikes at the beach in Florida for a day or more and I just love combining exercise with a fun sight seeing adventure. I enjoy biking more than running as it is more of a leisure activity and you can cover more ground so I was excited to join my friends. We bought some nice bikes a few years ago and have enjoyed them mostly in the fall when it…

Open Knit Sweater 3 Ways: October Sunday Showcase
I always struggle when shopping retail: am I contributing to the fast fashion industry with my buying habits and my love of shopping? I really have tried to thrift more this year and to give myself some shopping breaks to shop my closet, but I still have shopped retail here and there. There are a few places I do not shop for clothes, the 2 top ones being TEMU (those prices sure are coming at the detriment of someone) and SheIn. Yes, I still purchase from Target, Old Navy and other places but I really have been trying to limit those excursions. Today, I am sharing a sweater I bought…
