December outfits

Today I wanted to share some of the outfits I have worn so far this month. After going a little crazy in November buying 4 to 5 sweaters and a few other items including my full price jeans (crazy by my thrifty standards), I decided to slow down knowing that I need to buy gifts for Christmas and wanting to get back to saving! I always underestimate how much I spend at Christmas and might write a recap about that spending later this week or next but today is the day for “Shop Mireille’s closet” in December. The only item purchased this month (and I will be strong and not buy anything else till January) is my denim jacket. I paid full price but had wanted this jacket for about a year. Thankfully, I had $40 in credit from credit card points and a $18 check reinbursing me for a background check I had taken for being a soccer coach back in September so I wasn’t much out of pocket.

I sized up to a medium in the Kut for the Kloth Helena denim jacket (color: sweet). I first saw the jacket on Audrey from Putting me Together and she kept recommending it because of the color, cut and feel of it. No regrets: I love it! I will be wearing it all year long.

I wore the jacket again the following day with a thrifted dress which I should really wear more often! I don’t think I even wore it last year: not buying clothes sure helps you wear what you have!

Probably one of my favorite looks so far this month: loving wearing white on white! This sweater from Amazon took a while to arrive but it sure is cute. It is oversized so I usually do a little front tuck to give myself more shape. Everyone loves my wedge caramel boots and while they are showing some wear and tear I might not retire them!

I share this look for Shelbee’s and Nancy’s Good buy/bye post. When they announced the theme “faux fur” I actually had forgotten I had more than a beanie with a faux fur pom pom. My sorel boots were found on sale a couple years ago and I sure hope to see some snow to wear them this winter or some real cold. I wore them half a day on this particular day: very cold morning but it warmed up! The vest with the faux fur trim hood is a Tjmaxx find several years ago. I bought it despite it being a little large on me since they did not have my size. I usually try to wear something fitted with it.

Wearing that same Amazon leopard sweater but with my favorite Wit and Wisdom jeans. Always think of different ways to style something: next time I should pair it with black denim and shoes!

Wearing another forgotten thrifted dress! Used this formula for this dress and the following one: boots and a vest with of course some Nickel and Suede earrings!

These brown boots are old but cute but I don’t wear them too often as they have a heel and are just not as cozy as some of my other boots.

Wearing that same first tank dress with different toppers. Amazing how versatile a black dress can be. For some reason I tend to wear it in the winter more than the rest of the year. Most often with boots and leggings for warmth. This fun sleeved cardigan while cute is a little annoying with its long sleeve so I wear it when I am not working in the kitchen nor cleaning.

My tip to help you refrain from shopping is to actually pare down your closet: get rid of the clothes that do not fit you, clothes that are too worn or have spots and holes, or clothes you have worn in a couple years. Having less in your closet actually helps you wear more what you have! It also allows you to notice what you actually need in your wardrobe.

A bientôt!

I enjoyed seeing your outfits. I’m glad you were able to get the KFTK jacket. Denim jackets have an almost unlimited lifespan. (I gave my daughter an old one that’s probably 20 yrs. old!) I really need to do some wardrobe planning/closet work.

It’s funny because I gifted my friend one that I bought at Target thinking it was light in color but really was about the same as one i already have, and it looks so great on her: she has been wearing it the last two times I saw her. Planning another outfit with mine tomorrow before the weather gets colder again. Will get my cost per wear with it for sure and like you said, it will be wonderful for years!

There are several similar ones out there from different companies. Saw another blogger wearing it this way. Next will try it with black jeans.

Pretty looks! I am enamored with your cream and white leopard sweater from Amazon, looks cozy and I like how you did the front tuck. I have to work at that! The grey cardi with the fun sleeves is very pretty! I have bought shoes and pjs from Amazon, just not clothes, I may try in the future!
Merry Christmas and thanks for linking!

Thank you! The only things that I order are things that others have recommended. But dresses have never worked for me.

I love the denim jacket and see why you went for it. I had a similar color denim jacket that I lost this year and I keep reaching for it. I wore that so many times! I miss it. And to make fashion matters worse, it was cropped and worked with a lot of styles. haha! there are worse problems for sure. Anyway, your outfits look great! I like the layering with jackets and vests – creative!

I really love the yellow vest with the black and white dress, such nice layering! that’s a cute denim jacket too! Although I’d already bought all the Christmas presents before December I was hoping I’d be able to get through the month without buying anything for myself – ended up splurging on a perfectly fitting pair of denim shorts in the opshop – a rarity to find for me, pants and shorts are hard to get the fit right! It was $6 as it was the more expensive store (my go-to is $1 for everything) but I’m hoping I get lots of wear from them!

Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! A new link up is live on my blog now, I’d love you to join again.

I’ll be taking a few days away from the blog over Christmas so wanted to wish you a merry Christmas! Hope you have a great one 🙂

Thank you! I am the same way with the thrift stores but there are a few things I have spent a few extra dollars that have been worth it. Sometimes some of my $1 only make it through one wear before I realize I didn’t like them all that much while others are true winners. Have a wonderful Christmas!
