December Sunday Showcase: Styling Each Other

When Ada suggested shopping an outfit for each from Target for our December Sunday Showcase, I loved the idea right away. Seeing what someone else would choose for you is my idea of fun! When I received my package, I opened it with excitement.  We decided on style the oufit and accessories 2 ways, one being the way the other envisioned it and then  how we would style it without a  prompt.

Dressy Look: Velvet Skirt, Mustard top and Belt

Ada wanted me all fancied up and even sent a lipstick so I donned on my eye makeup and applied the lipstick. I think this is the 2nd time this year that I wore makeup!

My dressiest black shoes are my heeled booties and I added a belt to give the fun mustard blouse more shape and dress it up. I love the sheen of the velvet skirt and that the pieces can be worn as an outfit and separately to create endless outfits. The earrings were different than anything I have and I received several compliments the first time when I wore them.

They sparkle and look great with everything! Great job styling me Ada!

“For the second outfit, Mirei proposed the idea of styling the outfit the way the other blogger would choose to. I even asked Mirei how she pictured me in this dress and she mentioned layers and booties. I still stayed true to myself while belting the dress with a belt from The Limited I have had forever and to mix the double leopard prints, I added a black+white leopard grandpa cardigan (Target). I went full-on pattern here because those black opaque tights have white pinstripes and let’s not forget the snakeskin bag. For this outfit I put on the dangly leaf earrings Mirei gifted me. By the way, I kept both of these outfits head to toe Target because these black suede wedge oxford booties are also Target, just like the boots in the previous look.”
I think it is really interesting how even with suggestions from each other, the outfits have our mark on them as we are working with what we have in our closet and our spin on the directions: I do not have any pumps and my dressiest black shoes were those booties. I love all the print mixing Ada used in this outfit and now look forward to seeing some close ups of different parts of this outfit. That green emerald is such a good color on Ada!

My Twist on the Outfit

For my second outfit I dressed down the look a little by knotting the shirt. The fit of the blouse is boxy so after trying different things like tucking it in, I found that I like it best with a belt or tied at the waist. It would look cute under a black vest too with jeans!
I switched the shoes for my snakeskin booties therefore doubling the print factor as you might have noticed in the crossover clutch. Funny how we both chose a snakeskin accessory for each other. We have found that we often think alike!
It is always interesting to take pictures on a windy day. The boys have to wait for a break in the wind to snap a picture that does not look too crazy. I am really working on having new poses but it is difficult: I am the most comfortable in one or two positions.

“When I first came up with the idea of Mirei and I dressing each other for the Holidays with pieces we would pick at Target, she jumped at the idea and selected this lovely babydoll Knox Rose emerald dress for me. I am in a size XS and thankfully it fit. I decided to style it in a sexy, glam way with matching emerald green statement earrings and my taupe faux suede tall ruched boots also from Target. These heeled taupe boots matched her snakeskin bag she chose for me, perfectly. I love dressing up in general, especially for the holidays, so this outfit is very me!”
Wow! The taupe was such a great choice color for the dress! Why didn’t I think of that! I love how Ada put this look together!
And I am really liking those boots! I will be keeping an eye for these or similar ones after the new year when boots start going on sale.
And here are my two looks side by side!

This month I chose Katie from Hello Katie Girl with her post “Barrels of Fun”! Katie always finds the most colorful backdrops for her pictures and her wardrobe is vibrant with color too! I love how she uses both to bring sunshine into the fashion world.

You look fabulous in both outfits and I love that we did this. You ran with the idea! I slightly like the dressier look more but that’s because I love getting all fancied up!! And I am glad I made you put makeup on. The bright lip looks gorgeous on you. I also love the earrings and skirt – both stunning! Love your take too, I probably wouldn’t have knotted the shirt but man that looks great! And the purse I chose looks perfect with those Target booties. BTW my tall taupe boots are currently on clearance! You picked beautiful pieces for me too – thank you. The post is up, it was so long and time-consuming to do, girl! LOL

P.S. Love Katie’s outfit so much too! =)

I am going to check the boots now: might have to get them now vs later lol! My goal this month during the break is to learn to do some link widgets for the clothes. Just haven’t taken the time.

What a fun idea! You both did really well picking items for one another. While I’ve seen you in yellow (and am always envious, because yellow doesn’t look good on me) I don’t recall seeing you in mustard. And it’s a really great color on you!

I never wear makeup either – despite my how I look in my photos. My eyes burn whenever I use makeup. I have an app for putting makeup on my photos.

I have a little of both in my closet so that was a fun color to choose. I think it was really interesting because I would have picked those things for myself but I really did like what she picked!
