September Sunday Showcase and Link UP: Unusual Color Combos
This month, I am introducing you to Grace from Graceful Rags (if you do not already know her) who is collaborating for this link up with me as Ada (Elegance and Mommyhood) is taking some time to spend with family this month.
Grace is a fun college student who has been blogging since 2016! Grace has a great fashion style, a thrifty approach to clothes and is a fountain of inspiration. Here is a post where I copied one of her looks: Inspired by Grace. Today we are sharing unusual color combinations and I knew I wanted to wear my new to me Baik Baik Honululu pants I found on ebay. I wore my neighbor’s in this post and had to find a pair for myself!
I thought about pairing red with cobalt blue but then settled with red and brown. I do not wear much brown and when I do, I probably most often pair it with white or denim so this was something different for me.
I’ve enjoyed this little leopard tee from Target: I had my son buy it for me last Christmas as a stocking stuffer as it was only $3. Might as well make sure they get me something I will use! The boys get each other and us parents a small gift for our stocking. Those are usually my favorite gifts.
I love these pants! They are so comfortable and they make a statement! I have had a hard time with wide legged bottoms but this year I have found a few styles that I really like and which I feel are flattering. These flowy pants are fun with the ruffles and the pockets come in handy.
I wore these at the Georgia aquarium with a black graphic tee and the front pockets were perfect for my phone. For this outfit, I added a wide belt to add a little more brown and to make the proportions work with the tee. I actually ended up folding the tee in because tucking it in didn’t look right. One thing I forgot was to add a bracelet: I have a brown leather bracelet that would have worked very well. I did add some Magnolia Market leather earrings.
This summer has been an experiment in trying to to shop for clothes for July and August and while I did buy 2 pairs of pants (including these), the purchases were not impulse buys but items I had been wanting to find at a reasonable price. Finding these for $29.99 on ebay in my size was very exciting! The limit on impulse buying has helped me take a 2nd look at my closet and made me appreciate all the treasures I have in there. Lots of variety that I need to take advantage of! Do you enjoy shopping your closet? How well do you succeed at no shop months?
Another look at Grace’s look from the above collage: I love the mustard crops with this purple multicolored tank. I am going to have to see what I can do with a similar color combo by shopping my closet.
Here a second outfit Grace is sharing on her blog post today: I love orange and teal together and have worn that combination before but I don’t think I have added the yellow to it.

My favorite post this past Sunday Showcase was Nancy’s Grey Sporty Skirt post (Nancy’s Fashion Style). I love Nancy’s collection of skirts and dresses and how she easily puts together the perfect shoes, sneakers, boots with her outfits. I really like this sporty look as I have been trying to wear my white sneakers more with skirts and dresses too. Check out her post to see the cool military jacket she paired with this outfit!

What a great find on those pants! They look great on you and so comfy too. I don’t think I have ever worn brown and red together but I am really liking that color combo.

Thanks, Jodie! I tried to come up with something different. I probably will wear them with black or white or navy most of the time.

Those red pants are great on you and I like the leopard print tee with them! I have a similar tee but it’s grey leopard print and I had to get it out the other week as it’s been a while since I wore it – like you I wore it with bright pants. Purple jeans 🙂
I have had mixed sucess with no buy months, haha! I do better when I don’t even browse for things and just focus on things other than shopping. Browsing leads to breakign no buy months I find for me, I can be an impulse shopper!
Thank you for the link up!
Hope you had a great weekend 🙂 We enjoyed the warmer weather which was good as it’s another cold spring day today!

I have a grey leopard tee too and I wear that one a lot more (it was a hand me down from my sis in law). This month has been busy so far and it is only day 5 and a little stressful and I am finding myself shopping plus I keep giving myself the excuse that it is my birthday month. Granted I know my mother in law will give me some birthday money so I will just put it towards my credit card bill.

Oh what a fun theme for transitioning into the fall! I do love the red and browns together for a rich autumnal vibe. And those pants really are amazing, my friend. Now I think I want to go find a pair for myself! I loved the gray ones that you borrowed from your neightbor, too. You look fabulous, Mirreile! And how great that Grace joined you this month! Heading over to check out her post now.

The pants are really cool. The only thing is that they loosen up by the end of the day. I am thinking of adding couple darts at the waist in the back.
Jennifer
I really love the red and leopard print together!!

A little bit different than what I would usually pair.
Di
Those red ruffled pants were a nice find and look great on you! Also, red and brown together makes the perfect transitional color combination. Thanks for introducing us to Grace in this collaboration, and I hope you both have a good week!
mimifce
Thanks, Di! I like adding more neutrals and browns come fall and winter but I still like to add a pop of color too. This was a little of both.
Lovely
These pants look wonderful and I’m loving this red and leopard combo!

These pants look so nice on you! And what a gorgeous color! Love the way you paired it with the leopard print! I always like receiving useful stocking stuffers too!
Both of Grace’s outfits are fabulous too, especially loving the yellow pants with the floral blouse.
Thanks for the linkup!

I really do like the pants! I have to figure out though how to make them a little tighter at the waist.

mimifce
Thanks, Laurie! They are so comfortable.
Claire
Love a pop of colour in my outfits and love both your looks. Red trousers are the best.
Thanks so much for joining us.
mimifce
Thanks! I was so glad I found them in a fun color!
nicole from High Latitude Style
These pants are awesome. So interesting. Thanks for hosting the party.
mimifce
Thank you! They are very different from what I usually wear.
Rena
Mireille, this is a fabulous look. I adore leopard paired with red so I think this match-up is brilliant. Brown and red make for a wonderful color combo that’s not as severe as black and red so it’s great for fun and casual looks.

Thanks, Rena. I haven’t worn the tee as much as I thought I would (I reach for my grey leopard one more) but it is fun.

What a fabulous pair of pants. They almost ‘read’ maxi skirt. Love the ruffledy tiers. And that vibrant color. These pictures of you are so cute. You look really relaxed and happy like you are very comfy in your own skin and in this great outfit. Especially sitting on the grass kind of like a flower child from the ’60s!! Adorable.
mimifce
They are quite wide! I wore my friend’s pair in an early post barefoot and dancing in the grass: pretty fun!

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
