Target Plaid Pants: 5 Ways

I was totally influenced by Jodie (JtouchofStyle) and Cammi (CammiAllen) to buy these pull on plaid pants when they shared them on Instagram. At 20 dollars and a non skinny cut, I just had to have them. I first wore them to a visit to the aquarium and thought about taking blog pictures (I would have needed just a few more) but we were all tired and did not want to get stuck in Atlanta traffic on the way home. So I put together a post to show their versatility but I did learn from my experience: while I like variety and coming up with interesting outfits, I really like the ease of a graphic tee and sneakers. I also like my blog pictures best when we dont take them around the house but with outfit changes, it was much easier this way.

Tee and White Sneakers

This is by far my favorite of the looks I tried. It is super comfortable and I know my two new floral graphic tees from Old Navy will look as cute with these pants. My Adidas sneakers would be another good shoe option. Of course, the Atlanta skyline looks pretty cool in the background.

Print Mixing with a Floral Blouse

I think I like this combination but I don’t particularly like the picture! The mustard is a nice contrast with the pants and the larger print lends itself to print mixing with the smaller plaid print. I always think of Jodie when I try something a little out of my comfort zone and try to be more creative with an outfit.

Color Contrast

Hand me down Cabi “sweater”: it is a knit material with an asymetrical zipper and 3/4 length sleeves. Might be a fun combo around the holidays. The studded booties are an old find from JCpenney.

Neutral and Scarf

This is probably my 2nd favorite: neutral accessories to complete the look: blush slip on sneakers, my $2 clearance scarf from Kohls and a neutral top. It’s an easy combination.

An Improved Outfit

I tried 3 different pairs of shoes for this one. I really wanted to wear my cream combat boots but with the length of the cropped pants, I wasn’t sure if they worked. I will just have to come up with an outfit to feature them! I still feel like all of the proportions are wrong in this outfit: the top and jacket are not fitted enough and the shoes need a lower shaft so the following outfit is my improved verstion.

So here is my improved version of the outfit above: a cropped 3/4 jacket, a different white top and different shoes!

So yes, I will probably wear these pants mostly with graphic tees and sneakers and they will be on my Instagram feed fairly often this fall because they are so comfortable and fun! I was glad to be influenced!

Since I wrote this post, Jodie wrote a post styling these pants in several ways, so make sure to check her post here! I especially like her parent them with a teal blouse and white booties and another outfit with purple and yellow: I see more outfits with these soon!
