White for Summer with a Button Down Skirt with the Ageless Style Link Up
Today, I am sharing a fun little outfit I wore a few weeks ago on a little staycation in Marietta, GA. Not wanting to let a free hotel night to go to waste, I packed up 3 of my boys and we went to stay at the Marietta Conference Center. Before checking in, we enjoyed a little walk in the square, bribing the boys with ice cream as a reward for taking some blog pictures for me. We also stopped by a couple fun shops including a kids’ toy shop. Since Ada and I are sharing skirts this month, I decided to pair that theme (button down skirt) with our Ageless Style theme which is white for summer.
While I love a white monochromatic look, I shared one earlier this year for our Ageless style prompt in May (here). I actually wore this same Amazon top. It has been much more versatile than I had expected and in this case, I chose it because it added length to the back of my skirt making me more confortable with getting out of the car and moving around.
White brightens a look (that is why I often wear my white sneakers) in the summer and it helps you stay cooler while in the sun. This little button down camo skirt was a find at Upscale Cheapskate for less than $10. I paired olive sneakers with it instead of my white ones mostly because I wanted to show variety in my choices of shoes with my skirts.
I have different white earrings and bracelets but I have been reaching for my white cuff from LdWatkindesigns a lot this summer and I have not stopped wearing my IdeasValyen purse since I got it. Just perfect for summer!
We ended up not taking advantage of the pool at the hotel since the boys had so much fun with the reusable stickers and pad we picked up at that toy shop and enjoyed our pizza while watching the sunset from our room (the mosquitoes disturbed our attempt at eating outside at the hotel).
The Marietta square was a great spot for pictures it being the 4th of July weekend and I notice a couple and a family getting their pictures taken too. We ended her little staycation with breakfast at the French bakery Douceur de France which is a couple blocks off the square and 2 minutes from the hotel.
Don’t forget to see how the other ladies from the Ageless Style Link Up wore white!

OH I love this outfit and I am not usually a cammo fan at all! It sounds like you had a wonderful staycation too.

Camo I find is easy on the bottom half.

That is a really fun top! I like the added length. It creates some fun interest especially with your cute camo skirt!

Thanks, Laura! I will need to try it with other short skirts!

Ooh, Mireille, I love this camo skirt paired with the high-low top. What a great idea for extra backside coverage! I like to wear longer kimonos and things over short shorts, skirts, and dresses for just that reason. Plus it’s a little bit sassy! You look fabulous, my friend. And what a fun little getaway for you and the boys!

I need to try that with a kimono or cardigan too: I have a couple of dresses that it would look fun with the added length.

I love how you have taken this casual, classic outfit up a knotch with your unique white blouse🤍
The sleeves and hemline add so much interest!

I’m so glad that you got to put the free night to good use Mireille!! And that long cardigan is fabulous with that skirt. I need to try that with a long cardigan and shorter skirt.

Love the camo skirt + olive sneakers combination! The silhouette of the shirt is really neat and makes for a great, interesting combination here.

That top is really cool, Mireille! I didn’t realize it was high low! How perfect when wearing something a little shorter! A staycation is always a good thing, right?

For years I swore I wouldn’t wear camo. The whole hunting thing. And the whole soldier thing. But then I caved and bought a pair of camo pants and I fell in love. Now I have 2 pairs of pants and a skirt, very similar to yours. It was snug last time I wore it and the way I have been eating ice cream, it probably won’t go up over my hips now!!
What a terrific top. I love the longer hem in the back. It would be super cute with leather leggings!! And great call wearing the olive tennies. Would like to have a pair myself.
Sounds like your overnight stay was very pleasant. We often drive 30 miles west to spend the night in a little town in New Mexico just to get away from the same ole same ole. It’s nice to take in different scenery, eat somewhere besides the old hometown standbys. And just 24 hours away from home can go a long way toward renergizing us.
Going to move my camo skirt front and center in my closet and try it on this weekend. Say a prayer!!

Yes, it is nice to get away, sometimes with the kids to get them out of the routine is nice too. Hope your skirt fits! All the running has helped me with the ice cream lol, I run so I can eat it!

Love this top!!

Looking lovely my friend. That’s a clever idea, mixing a short skirt with a longer back shirt. Cool and practical.
I’m glad you enjoyed your break.
