7 Day Skirt Challenge 2022 with Is This Mutton
Every year, Gail from Is this Mutton puts on an Instagram skirt challenge to wear/share skirts for 7 days. I enjoy this challenge because I don’t always reach for my skirts in the fall but I do have a nice variety that I should wear more often. So today, I am sharing the skirts I wore (all but one) either for day to day activities or for church.
Date Night Look
Since returning from our trip to Costa Rica, I have been wanting to make sure my husband and I plan a monthly date. We went to church together and stop by a nice restaurant on the way home. I am loving rust this fall and picked up 3 tops in the color last month (one with gift money). I created a neutral and rust capsule wardrobe for our beach trip which I will share soon. This summer skirt is going to stay in my closet at least 3 out of 4 seasons because I like how light and bright it is.
Cowboy Maxi
I have worn this maxi before with combat boots, sneakers and sandals but never with my cowboy boots. I really love this combination and wore it for a day with my youngest: annual eye doctor exam and a little picnic at the playground.
Lunch with a Friend
I met Yenni from IdeasValyen for lunch last month and shopped my closet to create a new look. I love how Jodie and I are finding different ways to wear these Kancan shirtdresses we won in a giveaway. The necklace is from her shop and a great addition for fall.
Casual Denim
I love this particular denim skirt in the fall. The light denim plays well with all colors and I especially like it with booties and boots. Definitely a budget look: Walmart booties, thrifted top and the skirt is Loft from Gabes. All pieces are from last year or prior.
Cold Weather Date Night Look
This is the one look I have not worn yet because the weather warmed up and sweaters were not necessary the week of this challenge. This is the second rust top I picked up in October. I really like the button down cropped cardigan look when it is buttoned up. This top is thanks to my mom in law.
Striped Thrifted Skirt
This thrifted stretchy skirt is the perfect colors for fall. I have worn it with black and blue before but really do love it with burgundy. I carried the color scheme with my embroidered booties from IdeasValyen (and purse) and of course my sweater.
My Favorite Skirt: Bright for Fall
I couldn’t pass up wearing my favorite skirt for this challenge so I tried to make it more autumnal by pairing it with my last rust top and adding darker brown accessories. A little dichotomy with the combat boots and my wooden bracelet from Costa Rica but some feminine details like the lace sleeves and pretty butterfly earrings.
Do you wear your skirts in the fall?

OMG, I just love them all. And you wore the denim dress as a duster, I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to that yet!!
The cowboy boots are the best. I just wore mine yesterday for Thanksgiving, and I love how they work with so many different looks.

Oh, they would be great for a Thanksgiving look. I actually have a Christmas look I shot with them and a velvet skirt coming up soon!

I love all of these outfits, Mireille! You’ve got such a wonderful variety of skirts. And there’s this amazing vibe in all of your photos of quiet confidence. Of course that vibe emanates from you, but is also reflected in your style, and how you put your outfits together.

Thank you! It’s taken be a while to be comfortable with taking pictures but it’s really made a difference to find and wear combos that I like. Not great for my wallet but I do try to be thrifty most of the time.
