Summer Style in White and Grey
Today is the official last day of the school year! Next year, I will have a senior in high school, a 7th grader, a 4th grader and a Kindergardner. It is hard for me to phantom that that will be my oldest last year at home more than likely. I need to treasure every fun moment this summer from our vacation in a couple of weeks to pool days, and hopefully some fun game nights. The two oldest and I like to play poker and blackjack while the youngest enjoy Yatzee and other games.
I am looking forward to no alarm clocks (except for Saturday 6 am morning runs), having more fun in the kitchen with fresh fruits and vegetables. My 9 year old enjoys helping out with cooking so I am hoping to take advantage of that. We will be regular visitors to the library and participating in the library reading program. June is typically the month when the children read the most as they want to win all of their prizes quickly.
Georgia is known for its heat, humidity and bugs in the summer), so we will be spending time indoors. I hope to get my boys to help out more around the house since they will have more time on their hands the first month (July will be dedicated to camps). I told them I am calling it the gentleman boot camp. Not every chore will be paid and certain tasks will be expected of them, the main one being cleaning up after themselves.
On to today’s outfit: I wanted to feature these New Direction grey sneakers my neighbor gave me. They are actually a size too big for me but fit comfortableyand do not rub anywhere. I paired them with a white column topped by a thrifted kimono you have seen recently over a dress and earlier in the fall (see outfit here).
The white top is new from TJMaxx (I did a little shopping the week of Mother’s Day) and I will be wearing it with many pieces in my closet from pants to skirts. The material feels very soft, I like the heathered look of it and the thickness is perfect. I took this silly picture to show the fun details on the kimono sleeves. By the way, if you look at the foot of the chair and firepit, you can see the holes made by a local armadillo in search of grubs. We’ve been leaving the lights on the porch to deter him/them from coming back and we hopefully killed the food source by treating our lawn.
My husband typically travels 4 days out of the week, so I am hoping that we can take fully take advantage of freer weekends to take a couple day trips. We also love summer nights around the firepit and July 4th is always a fun occasion around here. Here is to living a full summer, but also enjoying the laziness of it as well as the little moments!

The hardest thing for me in summer is the mess the boys make because they are home and play. And it gets hot so after a while they don’t like being outdoors. We are heading to the library in the morning to sign up for the library program and hopefully we come up with something fun to do for the day.

Love how the grey and white came together in this outfit with the pretty kimono. The “gentleman boot camp” sounds great!

Now to actually put that little bootcamp into effect: I got some lazy boys lol!

It’s shocking to me you have a son that will be his last year of high school. And I love the idea of gentlemanly camp. You have such great ideas and are a fabulous mother,

Ha ha! And my sister in law made me realize that when the youngest graduates high school, I will be 60.

You are talking about summer while we still don’t have much of a spring here. It feels like it’s March! And school holidays starts here in July. But I’m also looking forward to slower summer days. Lovely look!

Spring has been cooler here but it has been pretty pleasant with 80F here.

First, I cannot believe you have a Senior in high school! Second, I had no idea there were armadillos in Georgia! Third, I hope your summer is a fabulous one!

Oh yes, armadillos galore! You see them most as roadkill or really early morning waiting for kids’ buses!

It sounds like you’ve got some wonderful things planned for the summer. It’s a shame Georgia is so humid and ‘buggy’ though!!
Love that kimono, and it looks fabulous over the white top and shorts, Mireille!
Big hugs

Thank you, Suzy! Yes, the weather can be a little much here so I typically don’t enjoy summer as much as other season.
Jennifer
