Southwestern Inspired Outfit

Leslie, who live in El Paso came up with our theme this month and I was excited to see what I could come up with. I had just purchased a pair of light yellow denim pants on sale from Jjill and headed to Pinterest for some inspiration. I then looked through my closet to put together today’s outfit. In real life, I probably would exchange the denim dress for my black denim shirt, but otherwise I really love this outfit!

I first want to share my turquoise jewelry! I wanted my grandmother’s necklace to pop so I chose my black tank to showcase it. My earrings were gifted from brand and I picked up the bead bracelets from a local boutique.

I added a thrifted turquoise belt and my Vivaia boots I won on a giveaway. Can you believe I forgot my phone when I went to take these blog pictures? My son had his IPhone but that always leads to some issues to download them to my phone then to my computer. We then realized that we would skip that problem if he just emailed them to me.

The denim dress was also a giveaway prize. So this outfit is really affordable! My boho bag is from the same boutique as my bracelet but I bought it years ago.

Prompts like this can be really fun as you look at clothes combinations in a new way. I have donated quite a few things recently as the pieces were a constant reminder that I wasn’t wearing them and that I didn’t really want to wear them. They were mostly tops and a couple pairs of shoes. I hope they will make someone else happy. I have been donating to our local charity shop in town.

I am having a little trouble concentrating on my post: my oldest who took these pics is a senior this year and is putting a lot on his plate: it’s a lot of scheduling and thinking ahead about his day. I am trying to get him to share the days he needs to be early at school since he has been sleeping through several alarm clocks. Finding a balance is a skill to be learned!

I definitely have found that for myself, I need a balance of chores, exercise, errands and me time to be the best I can be. And I really have so much space for improvement! Keeping a couple of calendars really helps me feel not overwhelmed. I keep a large calendar on the garage door for kids activities and school related activities, a digital calendar for appointments and daily to do list and a separate calendar for blog and IG posts.

Mireille, I love the way you interpreted this theme! This color combination is so fun and I really like the denim dress worn as a jacket. Your boho bag is really speaking to me, too! So fun! You look fabulous as always, my friend.

I agree that turqoisee and denim totally belong with a South Western style! And so fabulous combned with those beautiful trousers! And I keep 3 calenders to have a oversight! Pff, mad really right?

I love how you wore the denim dress as a duster. I recognized it right away.
And the necklace that was your grandmother’s?? How fabulous. The sentimental things are always the best.

PS. Good luck with the balance. I keep trying to find it too, LOL

The turquoise/silver jewelry is such a great way to channel the southwestern style, and the bag is a great addition with the southwest/boho prints on it. I don’t envy you trying to stay on top of everyone’s schedule in your household – it can be a lot!

Calendars, calendars, calendars! Right now the oldest is doing so much at school, my main job is to make sure he gets up early.

I would say the mustard color jeans are a winner, Mireille! I love the black top with the turquoise popping against it as well as the turquoise belt! Such a gorgeous look!

I remember the days of getting kids up to be ready to go to school. It was easy when they were in the lower grades because they just walked across the street. High school was a different matter! Good luck!

Well done!! Way to embrace the prompt. Glad you had fun putting this great look together. That is a fabulous denim dress or dress/duster. I think you will get lots of use out of it. Your black top really showcases that turquiose necklace, too.

Your son makes a good photographer and emailing the photos was an easy solution to getting them to you. PC is very reluctant to take pictures of/for me. And for my post, he took pictures so far away that you can’t tell a thing about my outfit!! Grrr.

I think you nailed the theme! I love the yellow pants and the purse and turquoise accessories really tie it all together.

You look fabulous, Mireille! I love that you’re using the dress as a kind of jacket. It works so well! The yelloow trousers are perfect. I’ve been wanting a pair in yellow for some time but have yet to find any!
Balance is so important, isn’t it? It must be tough for your teenage son…I certainly don’t miss those days!

I was so glad that the yellow denim popped up in an add and that they went on sale. It is a fun color to wear and being wide leg keeps them current. Wore them last week again and will probably again next!

This is such a good outfit for the theme, and I love the yellow jeans! I’m always on the look out for more colourful jeans, yellow is a colour I don’t have in denim yet but I live in frequent hope when I browse the denim racks in the opshops! 🙂
