Black and White: Dressy Outfit
Sometimes, when I come up with ideas for blog posts that are not my daily outfits, I wonder why I shop since I always seem to find new combinations with older pieces hanging in my closet. I was inspired to put together a black and white outfit after reading Laura’s post here.
Since Laura’s black and white outfits were meant for date night, I decided to choose dressy pieces from my closet. I do not own any pumps so my choice of shoes was simple: my heeled booties. I thought they worked well with my cuffed black pants which I “inherited” from my friend when I helped her go through her closet.
It’s pretty fun how this outfit combines clothes and accessories from a variety of sources. The top is from Amazon, the earrings from a little Etsy shop, the necklace from a fellow blogger’s shop and the snakeskin clutch my mom gave me a few months ago came from Ivory Coast 50 years ago!
It’s too bad I don’t have many occasions to dress up apart from church and the occasional date: I have some pieces that really elevate a look. Most of the time I will pair them with something casual so I can wear them any day of the week. I thought of wearing this outfit minus the necklace and clutch with my white sneakers.
Looks like the front of my house needs some sprucing up: weeds abound and I need to sweep and add some color! I think a couple pots of purple and white petunias or begonias would living it up.

That is a fabulous outfit! I so rarely get the chance to dress up at all; even our date nights and holidays tend to be casual since that’s pretty much all my husband (and even my sons!) own or wear.

I really love this outfit! I don’t dress up much either, but I do have some pieces that are a little “more” than others, so I will just wear them on a special day. My dressiest top is one I recently bought: it’s a magenta velvet top with sequin sleeves, and it’s my favorite top. I love to wear it on special occasions!

I’d wear it running errands because it looks nice and fun.

That’s a great outfit and really stylish. The simplicity of it all, makes it, I think. I wear casual clothes when I’m at home and espcially when I’m sitting writing. But I don’t do casual outdoors! – I always change my clothes to go out even if I’m wearing a coat over the changed outfit!!!
It’s actually still very much coat wearing weather here in the UK – roll on warmer weather!

I think we have a tendency to think black and white outfits are dressier than those with color. Or, maybe that’s just me. I think you look lovely in this, but I could see adding sneakers and changing out your necklace could make the look casual. Overall, it’s pretty fabulous!
