White Dress and Lavender Fields

When you have an idea that works, you use it again. Last year, the boys and I went to a local lavender field and took some pictures. I did donate the white dress from that post this year as I really don’t think that is what very becoming and I didn’t want to wear it anymore. The white also wasn’t as crisp as when I bought it (it was several years old at least). We’ve had a lot of rain this July and the fields were past their peak and in their 4th year. The family that bought the house (it came with the field) is going to create a wedding venue and only plant 9 rows next year. However, she directed me to a lavender farm in Dahlonega where we might go next year.

This was actually the first bit of sun we saw in a week! We usually get rainstorms in July, but they are scattered and usually leave nice bright sunny days. Not so, this year!

I love this dress! It has a waist and it has pockets. The details on the sleeves and hem are so pretty and the dress is lined! I will be wearing it for Easter/Pascha next year and will pair it for something colorful before fall arrives to wear to church or on a date. I found it at Belk a couple months ago. Looks like the dress is now on sale for $20!

The length is great: perfect knee length to make moving around easy and not flash anyone! My 10 year old loved harvesting the lavender and I had him take off all of the dried lavender and fill two sachets for me when we got home.

Even though the field was not at its best, we managed to take some great shots. We had some lavender lemonade and snow cones, and I got a candle as well as a body scrub.

I brought my basket for a prop more than anything. I still haven’t figured out what I want to use it for a home so it sits in my mirror corner. I could put some scarves in it!

One year, I will get back to a sunflower field: I just never make the time to make a day of it even though there are a couple within an hour or so from the house. Since I got stung by a bee last time I went to one, the boys haven’t been too keen to go visit one. Look like it has been 4 years since I went to one (blog post here)!
