White Dress and Lavender Fields
When you have an idea that works, you use it again. Last year, the boys and I went to a local lavender field and took some pictures. I did donate the white dress from that post this year as I really don’t think that is what very becoming and I didn’t want to wear it anymore. The white also wasn’t as crisp as when I bought it (it was several years old at least). We’ve had a lot of rain this July and the fields were past their peak and in their 4th year. The family that bought the house (it came with the field) is going to create a wedding venue and only plant 9 rows next year. However, she directed me to a lavender farm in Dahlonega where we might go next year.
This was actually the first bit of sun we saw in a week! We usually get rainstorms in July, but they are scattered and usually leave nice bright sunny days. Not so, this year!
I love this dress! It has a waist and it has pockets. The details on the sleeves and hem are so pretty and the dress is lined! I will be wearing it for Easter/Pascha next year and will pair it for something colorful before fall arrives to wear to church or on a date. I found it at Belk a couple months ago. Looks like the dress is now on sale for $20!
The length is great: perfect knee length to make moving around easy and not flash anyone! My 10 year old loved harvesting the lavender and I had him take off all of the dried lavender and fill two sachets for me when we got home.
Even though the field was not at its best, we managed to take some great shots. We had some lavender lemonade and snow cones, and I got a candle as well as a body scrub.
I brought my basket for a prop more than anything. I still haven’t figured out what I want to use it for a home so it sits in my mirror corner. I could put some scarves in it!
One year, I will get back to a sunflower field: I just never make the time to make a day of it even though there are a couple within an hour or so from the house. Since I got stung by a bee last time I went to one, the boys haven’t been too keen to go visit one. Look like it has been 4 years since I went to one (blog post here)!

That is such a beautiful, crisp, white dress! It looks great on you and the lavendar field was a perfect backdrop for your photos. That looks like it will make a wonderful event space but I bet you’ll be sad to see the beautiful flowers go.

I am definitely curious to see how little 9 rows is!

Very pretty white dress on you Mireielle, I love the crochet inserts. And the dress seems so perfect for the lavender field setting. So sorry it will be developed. The basket seems just right for the outfit, a la Jane Birkin, who carried a basket as a handbag winter, spring, summer and fall. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend!

Thanks, Di! Yes, the length on the dress was perfect and the little crochet details were just the little extra that make it interesting!

I’ll bet the smell was heavenly! My lavender is going quite well this year, but I don’t have a field of it! I love the way this dress fits you…so demure yet classic. Such a gorgeous scene!

Imagine the fields in France!

This looks so pretty, I went to a lavender field a couple of years ago, it was heavenly. We took a picnic and enjoyed the smell of the flowers, shame I didn’t buy anything but I don’t remember anything quite as nice as you’ve mentioned. Jacqui. X

That would have been so nice to have a picnic there! That is what I am hoping for next year if we go to the one in the mountains nearby.

I love this white dress! Last year’s was cute too but this one is really stylish! And I love your shoes, too. Too bad about the lavender fields going away but nice of her to tell you about another one nearby. I haven’t been to a lavender farm since pre-blogging days but they make for such a great backdrop!
Miles of smiles,
