Styling Athleisure for Winter

A couple weeks ago, during the ice/snow storm that came across the US, our regular church services were cancelled for shorter versions that we have in the absence of our priest (who drives weekly from South Carolina), so we decided to stay home. On Saturday, one of the boys had a touch of the stomach flu (thankfully it lasted only about 12 hours), and my husband wasn’t feeling well. On Sunday, we woke up to some light ice in the trees and on some surfaces, but it melted during the day. I had planned a cozy outfit and decided to share how I wear athleisure-wear nowadays in a styled and put together way.

I have two pairs of lounge pants: one pair I wear as pj’s, and this pair which was part of a set from Amazon. I recently gave the quarter zip top to a friend since I wasn’t wearing it. However I do enjoy the pants: they are wide leg, soft and cozy and a good alternative to leggings. Since it was cold, I wore my fur lined combat boots.

My 8 year old and I braved the cold (while it was around 30 degrees, the wind-chill was much colder) and took some pictures! We looked for some fun pieces of ice, two of my boys jumped on the trampoline and created ice balls and enjoyed the outdoors for a bit. I did switch to my warm jacket and some fingerless gloves after my outfit pictures.

My goal this winter has been to wear all of my sweaters and cardigans (I have more sweaters than cardigans) and to donate the ones that I don’t. I only donated 3. I paired a tan sweater with my long cardigan here and loved how cozy it felt. I spent a little time searching for boho winter inspiration on Pinterest that Saturday and have some fun outfits ideas for when it is not so rainy and cold.

Neutral scarves are timeless: my blanket scarf is one of my oldest scarves, this one is one half of one so it is not as bulky. I probably have too many beanies for someone who lives in the south but they are perfect for windy and cold days. We took advantage of the week to re-home all of the legos to the loft area (they were in two spots in the house) and worked on our laundry room. I re-homed my comfy lounge chair back to my bedroom. I wanted an area to read in my room (I bought a lamp second hand to add light) and we are working on clearing up our upstairs “media” room which will get a facelift (through new furniture) when my parents move in. Sunday was a cozy, but purposeful day.

A bientôt!
