Another Whimsical Outfit with my Tulle Overlay Dress
When my son and I took these pictures, he mentioned that I looked like the character Lucy Gray from the movie The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. And I have to agree with him: it does make me think of her! I do love how this outfit came together and will be wearing it out and about for a date night! I have worn this tulle overlay several times now and will share some pictures at the end of the post to give you some inspiration.
I wanted to wear pants under the tulle instead of a skirt like I had done in the past and I did have to try a couple before I settle on my cropped denim pair. I like the darker color under the white tulle.
To add to the whimsical feel of the outfit, I wore my colorful scarf wedges! I did twist my ankle walking in the grass, but at least I didn’t fall down! My son was a little embarrassed because we took these pictures early in the morning while there were runners at the park and we crossed paths with someone he knew. Nothing like looking out of place taking pictures of your mom in a tulle outfit!
Here is a closer look of my denim: both the jeans and the top were thrifted the top, this past year and the jeans, a few years ago. I am so loving buying less retail lately. I am really skipping over some of the influencers online that share more of the “shop, shop, shop” mentality and am enjoying more the ones who share their thrifted finds or multiple ways to wear something.
Like everyone else, I am not perfect and I do get influenced every so often to buy something someone has shared. Case in point, these sandals! I have worn them enough times now, to know they were a good purchase!
I really haven’t promoted much this year on the blog or IG apart from Halftee: I truly wish to be an inspiration to wear what you have and only add what will benefit your wardrobe and your style. And to have fun while doing so!
Because this tulle dress is not lined, you do have to layer over and under it: but it really is a fun piece to play with and be whimsical! While I wasn’t sure how much I would wear it when I bought it, it turns out, it is really fun and easy to find new ways to style it!
A bientĂ´t!

I need to get back to reading that book. It was a slow start for me. But will give it another go.
I get the “Gypsy” vibe from Stevie Nick’s song from your outfit. I love that song and video and your darling skirt has that edgy, funloving spirit. Everytime you wear those sandals, I go on a search for something similar. Glad to see them again and to know that you are getting your money’s worth out of those darling shoes. And the jeans are among my favorite of your thrifted things.
Give son a raise for taking such sweet photos. When you sit criss-cross applesauce on the ground, you look so cute!!

This is such a cute outfit, Mireille! I don’t know the reference, but I gather, from Leslie’s comment, it’s a book. Tulle adds such a sense of whimsy, I definitely agree!

It is a book, the prequel to the Hunger Games one and it was made into a movie. The character wear a tulle like dress!

I think the advantage to a piece like this is you have to use your brain and make new pathways when styling it because it’s nothing like what we normally wear. And you can’t just put it on and go.
I adore this look, so so much,

First of all I applaud your son!
Second….. Mireille…..I want that outfit! Although it wouldn’t look as good on me as it does to you! Wow! I love the girly, cool, feminine, stylish, daring vibe of this look. And those wedges are so perfect with it! Fabulous!
