White Dress for Fall with Blazer

The problem with taking blog pictures to much in advance (think a month and a half) is that sometimes, I am not sure which date would be more appropriate for the post. I took these pictures before taking the pictures of my pink dress and white cowboy boots in the fields, but thought the more muted colors of this outfit fit the later date better. Then I didn’t want both similar outfits to be posted too close together so here is an early fall outfit for late fall!

If you live somewhere unlike Georgia and Florida where we still get mild days in December, you may want to winterize this outfit by switching out the 3/4 blazer for a moto jacket and add some fleece lined tights under the dress! You could also re-imagine this outfit with a knitted dress versus a cotton dress!

I first shared this white dress in August here, and decided it was too pretty to put away in the cooler months. I had thought to wear it with the boots then, but it sure was hot when I took the pictures in June, so sandals made a lot more sense. I did where the dress twice this fall. I really love it!

I substituted the white belt that came with it for a thrifted one and added some gold bracelets. These pictures were taken on the spur of the moment: I had been wanting to take some pictures in the cotton fields before it got picked, and after dropping off one of my sons to his tennis lesson, I noticed that it was the perfect time of the day for pictures. As soon as I made it home, I asked my 10 year old if he would take some pictures and I quickly changed so we could take pictures before the sun went down. Good thing I never wear makeup!

The dress has pockets which is really nice. My leather earrings are a simple pair that I reach for often: they are lightweight! I spent some time explaining to my 13 year old how a real pair of leather boots is a worthwhile investment: these are going on 12 years maybe and I know my husband’s pair is probably more than 20 years old! When his feet stop growing, I will get him a pair!

I’m glad the boys are used to my blog antics: nothing like interrupting them while they read or play to ask them if they are willing to take some pictures. And I wasn’t very sweet this particular evening: I was afraid the sun would go down too quickly!

We then had to figure out the lighting as well as not get other people in our shots: there were a few families taking pictures too. I am so glad it worked out because it sure is prettier than my backyard. This is only 4-5 minutes from the house and we pass these fields every day on the way to the middle school.

A bientôt!
