Weekend with My Racing Friends
Earlier this year, my friend Patricia suggested a Mother’s Day Weekend race with Atlanta Track Club. This race was to take place in Buckhead, in Atlanta and was to be 4 miles. 11 of us from our Saturday Sunrise running crew signed up and met for brunch afterwards. Patricia, her sister, my friend Gretchen (who I walk with and run with several times a week) decided to meet up the evening prior and go out to dinner and we stayed at nearby hotels.
Gretchen and I shared a good laugh when I picked her up for our ride to Buckhead: we were dressed alike!
It was really fun to have a 24 hours mini vacay with girlfriends! I hadn’t done that in a while.
I couldn’t help but take pictures in front of this cool mural at Lenox Square. There was another one, but they were in the process of repainting it.
Patricia is the friend who occasional has a few hand me downs for me: she has a great taste in clothes, so it is fun to see what she has decided to weed from her closet. And she always looks adorable in what she wears.
We enjoyed dinner at Mission and Market and had delicious food. The service was very slow and that was reflected in my review of the restaurant, but the food presentation and quality were excellent, and the ambiance really nice.
It was really fun to dress up! My heels were very high and it was a good thing we were sitting most of the time. I bought them for my brother’s wedding a few years ago and I cannot wear them for long.
I used points for our hotel room at the Embassy Suites in Buckhead (which was just a few minutes from where the race started) and I was very impressed. I plan to return with my husband for my birthday night hopefully. We celebrated our race with brunch at Mojave Restaurant which was another delicious place to eat. Apart from our group picture, we didn’t take any pictures of the exterior as it was rainy. I do want to return too, as the restaurant and outside setting were really pretty.

Wish I could find a running buddy. I am determined to run a 5K again this fall. Really enjoyed this glimpse into your race and your weekend. That mural sure showcased your casual outfit. And all of you gals cleaned up real well. Love your top!! So super feminine and the sandals are super sassy. Glad you didn’t have to walk a lot in them. The hotel looks very nice. I am being careful with my running as I know it is taxing on the body. So this summer, I probably won’t run more than twice a week with a max of 4 to 6 miles each time.
