Make it Denim, but not Jeans
When I aim to shop my closet and not shop, I love to give myself a theme for getting dressed in the week and I also strive to wear my clothes in new combinations. All of these outfits, but the one with the star tee were new combos and it really did feel like I was shopping my closet. My goal was to wear denim pieces that were appropriate for early fall weather (cool in morning, still hot in the afternoons), and change up my color palette a little. I also wanted to hold off on wearing jeans till it cooled off, but wanted to make sure to wear my denim skirts which I had not worn since spring.
Sunday Church

Another way to herald in fall without the layers is to change your shoe wear: you will notice more close toe shoes and sneakers in my outfits. I still love these cowhide mules my friend gave me! I wanted to wear my new birthday necklace, so I chose a top I hadn’t worn in a while with a v-neck opening.
Camo is Back

Camo never left my closet and both the sneakers and the tee have been worn often over the years. I don’t wear the pattern often, but love to take it out in the fall.
Crochet and Shorts

I love a long sleeve with shorts, but there are not too many days I can pull out this combination weather-wise. I like to wear this at the beach (I will be packing these 3 pieces in November), but we had one day this September where it was the perfect outfit. Again, everything head to toe is several years old.
Scarf and Skirt

I love a light pink and grey combo! This is my 3rd denim skirt and I love how my 3 skirts are very different from each other. This is the only non thrifted one I have. I have worn it the most over the years. I am hoping to wear my scarves more this fall, even if it is only in the morning. I have a nice collection and they are a nice way to add pattern and interest to an outfit.
Chambray Pants and Corset Top

I enjoyed pairing my corset top with the scarf as it added a little coverage and the scarf picked up the caramel tones from the top. Having a theme for the week helped me be creative in my closet: I had not worn that top in several months and the high waisted pants were a perfect match for the cropped top.
Bermuda Shorts and Tee

Cream and denim never fails me! I carried it head to toe with my accessories! I looked back at my IG and I couldn’t find the picture of this exact outfit even though I know this is how I wore it before. Then I went down the hole of looking at all of my outfits and thinking: I cannot wait to wear all my fall pieces!
Bolero Denim Jacket

I decided to cut the sleeves of this little thrifted bolero denim jacket as I have many denim jackets and I have been wanting a short sleeves one. I left it below the elbows so I can cuff the sleeves if I choose too. This was the last time I wore this white dress for the season!

I do love denim, especially skirts. But I also love those wide legged trousers you are wearing. Brings the summer back!

Yes! I am going to see about styling those pants for fall for a mild day… With a sweater!

These are all such lovely outfits. We’ve finally hit that cool jean pant weather and I am loving wearing my jeans and sweaters again.

Hi Mireille, shopping your closet really stretches you creatively, doesn’t it? I love all of your denim pieces, they are all so differerent! Your chambray pants with the ruffles are really cute, too. Thanks for sharing the inspiration, and hope you have a good week!

Having an outfit theme for the week is really clever, and you did so great with this one! I think the scarf outfit is my favorite (scarf addict here). The bolero jacket with the shortened sleeves is such a unique piece and I love how you styled it.

It really helps me get inspired!

This was a fun take on denim! I probably wear all of these, but I would never have remembered them for a post! Good job!

Thanks, Marsha! It was a fun “let’s wear these things one more time” before it gets cold!

You did that very well! I especially like those trouswers with the kind of ruffles at the bottom?

They are pretty lightweight so best for warm days, but they are so fun to wear!

They are so fun: I plan to bring them to the beach in November: it should be warm enough for them.

Mireille, I love how you used a weekly theme to spark new outfit ideas — such a smart and sustainable way to ‘shop your closet.’ The pink and grey skirt look is especially lovely for early fall. Thanks for joining the Fine-Whatever link-up this week!
